The CFL running back carousel is in full swing:
BC picks up James Butler who was released by Hamilton
BC then releases William Stanback and then Ottawa quickly signs him.

Stanback was a guy I thought we might target, he has followed Adams from Montreal to BC to play with him specifically.
Don't know what the issue with Mills was, he is a good player, but something happened with him. He missed time, he was benched for a game.

Mills was punishing tacklers for a while. It was weird what went on with him, not sure what that was about. Maybe he can get it back.

It's trading from a strength for a weakness I thought. Our line play needs to improve, we need to get pressure from our front 4.
Hoping for a better season from Vaughters as well.
Wonder who replaces Judge.

If he hits the market, I'd sure like DD to go after Jameer Thurman.

I was thinking the same, but we just traded a Canadian for American wonder if that changes things.
I think getting the d line upgraded is most important. The less you have to send blitz and can get 4 man pressure the more plays you can make. Rushing the Qb into bad throws the backers and DB just need to cover and tackle.
Getting consistent pressure from your line changes everything.

Flo posted some horses on Twitter.
Was a bit worried only because he made some comments about the Stamps when everyone ganged up on us.
I was sure Dave made sure he wanted to be here when you invest the money and trade a starter.
Good to see.

Still only 33. Feels like he's been around forever.

The Montreal Alouettes have signed McLeod Bethel-Thompson to a contract extension for the 2025 season.
“He’s still very capable of winning games for you, and in the meantime, we’ve got a guy that can help mentor Davis (Alexander) and be there for support when that’s needed, and then be able to step in when that’s needed as well,” said head coach Jason Maas.

Thurman signs 2-year extension with Sask.
Maybe we can convince McManis to come back.
Geno Lewis is also in discussions with Edmonton. Seems like they can't afford to pay him the 320K he got last year, and I don't think the Stamps could afford that either.

Too bad about Thurman, but not surprised he was a top priority for the Riders. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I would sure like DD to go after McInnis from BC if the Lions don't ink him to a new contract.

Yeah and he's Canadian as well.
Hardy from Ottawa and Lawler from Winnipeg are free agents as well. I know we did go after Lawler before he priced himself out and went to Edmonton.
Janarion Grant from Toronto is an interesting free agent as well, he can return kicks. Maybe it's time we went after their roster.

I would take a flyer on Dalton Schoen if he's fully recovered from injury. Still only 28 years old and has averaged 1300 yards per season over his two full seasons.

Edmonton Elks’ general manager Ed Hervey has made his approach with star pending free agent receiver Eugene Lewis clear: let the league’s open market decide his value.
“I don’t know what his price tag is going to be. We’re going to see what the market sets for him. If someone is interested in that ticket, then more power to them. We have other areas on our roster that we have to address,” Hervey said from the CFL’s winter meetings on Tuesday.
“Not looking to [re-sign him] before free agency. I’m sure he’s going to get to the window. We’ll let the market reset itself with the receivers. We have more pressing needs on our roster. I don’t know how else to explain it. I put my resources in other areas. With respect, I think he’s an excellent receiver, but we’re not paying that kind of money for receivers.”
The 31-year-old was the highest-paid player at his position in 2024, earning $320,000. That was $35,000 more than Kenny Lawler and $90,000 more than Dalton Schoen made with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last year. Those two pass catchers were the second and third-highest-paid receivers in the CFL, respectively.

That is too expensive for a receiver. I guess you can pay them when your QB is Tre Ford and some guy coming out of retirement.
WHat I don't understand is how Winnipeg has 2 of the highest paid receivers plus Collaros and those guy son defence. Them and Toronto have to be the biggest offenders.
