With only a snowball’s chance in a fireplace of them winning any championships this season, they’ve acquired a top prospect and eight draft picks for 20 more games and probably a short playoff run with defenceman Henry Mews, their leading score who a source close to the team says is NCAA-bound in September.

That makes the trade a tremendous coup for 67’s GM James Boyd.

I wonder where Mews ends up next season. A top tier NCAA team no doubt.

Probably bidding wars on CHL All Star types. Some teams will load up no doubt.

I’m in Ottawa for a work trip. Have been looking forward all-week to the 67’s vs Oshawa game tonight to watch the Flames draft pick. Sit down in my seats and oh by the way he was traded. Ha ha.
Watching Ritchie, Gibson, and Sennecke. And Sennecke scores…

Mews has an assist already. That didn't take long.

Gridin with 2g+1a in a 10-0. The kid keeps putting up points.

October: 0.89pts/game
November: 1.38pts/game
December: 1.5pts/game
January: 2pts/game *

*only 4 games in

If CHL is smart they'd consider renegotiating with the AHL/NHL and allow 19 year olds to be eligible for the AHL.

Players would still have incentive to sign NHL deals, they could play in the AHL if good enough but still flexibility to be assigned back to the CHL.

Optically it would be better for CHL to be losing 19 year olds to the AHL than it would be to lose them to NCAA and keeps the door open of them being assigned back mid season open in scenarios where AHL is too big of a step.

Some big program with deep pockets will assemble a veritable Wrecking Crew of CHL All Stars.

Not all. No reason to yet.

Btw, he had 1 G, 2A, +1, was named 2nd star. Kid keeps looking more and more like a potential theft in the draft.

Imagine getting two stud defensemen in one draft. And then on top of that, getting Gridin, Misa, Basha and Battaglia.

Good. Lord.

Jan.10th:

Parekh gets 1g, and was +4 (!) in a 6-2 win over Erie. He is 4th in scoring by D, and tied for 15th-overall in plus/minus, with 34gp/13g/31a/44pts,+19, 53 PIM.

No points again for Misa, -1, and 8/13 in faceoffs in a 5-2 victory over Kitchener. He is 12th in OHL scoring, and tied for 20th-overall in plus/minus, with 38gp/21g/31a/52pts,+18, 2 PIM. It appears the line of Angus MacDonnell-Carson Rehkopf- Porter Martone was reunited for this game, meaning Misa has been bumped down the lineup- same situation he was in to start the season....

Mews was second star in a 5-4 loss to Niagara with 1g, 2a, and +1. He is still tops in scoring by D, with 39gp/12g/41a/53pts,-4, 42 PIM. It will be interesting to see what he can do on a GOOD team, as the Wolves sit in 8th place in the OHL overall.

No points for Battaglia, and -1 in a 6-5 OT win over the Greyhounds. He is tied for 18th in scoring, with 38gp/22g/26a/48pts,even, 20 PIM.

Gridin gets 2g, 1a, and was +4 in a 10-0 shellacking of Victoriaville. He is tied for 8th in Q scoring, with 36gp/23g/25a/48pts,+19, 19 PIM, and tied for 16th in plus/minus.

No points for Laing, and -1 in a 4-1 loss to the Hitmen. 38gp/10g/12a/22pts,+7, 26 PIM.

No points for Hurtig in the above contest, and +2. 30gp/3g/5a/8pts,+25, 18 PIM, tied for 10th-overall in plus/minus.

Lipinski picks up 1a, and was even (13/29 in faceoffs) in a 5-4 OT loss to Kamloops. With 14 points in his last 9 games, he sits at 31gp/7g/22a/29pts,+2, 22 PIM.

Jamieson gets 1a, and was +2 in a 4-2 victory over Spokane. 38gp/7g/17a/24pts,+29, 31 PIM, tied for 8th-overall in plus/minus.

Thanks for this!

The enthusiasm for all the kids is palpable in the interview.

Some nices comparisons of Misa to Mang and Coronato.

Interesting comments about Kerins' determination to get in better shape.

Keep drafting 10-11 players a draft Conny. Really like how the Flames organization has turned our development program into a real strength.

Jan.11th:

All zeroes again for Misa, who went 6/8 in faceoffs, and another game for the MacDonell-Martone-Rehkopf line, losing 6-5 to North Bay in OT. MacDonell was star #2 with 2g, and Martone was star #3 with 1g and 3a. Misa is now tied for 13th in OHL scoring, with 39gp/21g/31a/52pts,+18, 2 PIM, and is tied for 20th in plus/minus.

No points for Morin in a 6-5 loss to Rouyn-Noranda, but he was +1. He is second in scoring by D, with 36gp/10g/28a/38pts,+24, 20 PIM, and he's 7th-overall in plus/minus. 2025 Draft-eligible Bill Zonnon (who is indeed listed as a C in the boxscore) had 5 points for the Huskies.

Gridin was named second star in a 4-2 win over Chicoutimi, with 1g, and +1. He is tied for 7th in Q scoring with 37gp/24g/25a/49pts,+20, 19 PIM, and tied for 13th in plus/minus.

Jamieson was all zeroes in a 5-4 SO loss to Seattle. He is tied for 8th in plus/minus, with 39gp/7g/17a/24pts,+29, 31 PIM.

Lipinski picked up 2a, was even, and went 24/31 in faceoffs, as Vancouver beats Kelowna, 6-4. 32gp/7g/24a/31pts,+3, 22 PIM.

Mews picks up 2a, and was +1. He is 10th-overall, and first in scoring by D, with 40gp/12g/43a/55pts,-3, 44 PIM.
