Default Veteran actor Albert Finney dead at 82

Sad news. Always loved this guy's work.

Quote:
Over a career that spanned six decades, Finney appeared in memorable roles like Hercule Poriot in Murder on the Orient Express, the tortured protagonist in John Huston’s Under the Volcano, mob boss Leo in the Coen Brothers’ Miller’s Crossing, Daddy Warbucks in 1982’s Annie, the weaver of tall tales in Tim Burton’s Big Fish, a New York detective in Wolfen and, in another Oscar-nominated role, lawyer Ed Masry in Erin Brockovich.

In 2011, Finney revealed that he had battled kidney cancer, and while he reportedly defeated the disease, he scaled back his acting roles: His last credits include 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum and, his last big-screen appearance, the caretaker to the James Bond estate in 2012’s Skyfall.

He was badass in Skyfall. Going to have to re-visit some of his work. RIP.

He was brilliant as Scrooge....but that was a hundred years ago. Great in Erin Brockovich as well.

Julia Roberts may have been the star and received all the acclaim for Erin Brockovich, but Finney's character is the true heart of the film IMO. Great understated performance by him in that flick.

Also played Churchill for HBO. Then Brendan Gleason took over for the sequel.

Very sad. Always enjoyed him when he showed up in roles. My favorite probably is in Erin Brockovich and his Bourne appearances.

My favourite Finney performance is in John Huston's Under the Volcano. May be the best depiction of an alcoholic on film. Nic Cage apparently studied this performance for his role in Leaving Las Vegas.
