A lot of people will never view Kylington as a project pick that might take years before it might ever pan out. They'll look at him as a top 5 player that we stole with a second rounder.

I think this guy makes it eventually, and possibly even pulls a Jooris this season.

I'm going with Arnold, has progressed at every level and Adorondack imploded when he got injured. I suspect he will be a perfect third-line centre by next season (taking Stajan's job).

I feel at this point that Klimchuk and Kylington are coasting on pedigree rather than performance. Until they show they can consistently excel at the next level, neither are in the top ten IMO (despite their upside)

Unreal depth here. We're voting in guys at the 10 spot who would easily be top 5 on other teams, and possibly even top 3 on some.

To each their own, but IMO a goalie who hasn't done anything outside of junior just isn't on my radar, no matter how good the junior performance. No jump is bigger than that for goalies going pro, so I apply the Oilers Rule - potential is all well and good, but you have to show you can do it in the big leagues before I get excited.

I went with Wotherspoon. This past season was somewhat disappointing, but I really liked what he showed in his call-up the year prior. He was a solid defenceman for team Canada at the World Jrs and I thought he looked great for Portland in the Memorial Cup.

To me, he's got good size and #3 D potential. The Flames have a tough top 6 D to crack, but I am hoping that he'll be the number 7 guy (if Smid is out long-term) or the first call-up in case of injury.

Klimchuk and Arnold were my other considerations for this poll.

Wotherspoon again.

2nd round pick, further along in his progression than Andersson and Kylington.
Considered Klimchuk as well but I'd like to see how he does in the pro leagues first.

I disagree that this season was disappointing for Spoon. He took enormous steps in his development, even to the point of adding an offensive element.

The kid developed really really well in Addy.

Klimchuk for the 6th time in a row. I'll have to decide between McDonald, Kylington and Andersson next.

Voted Arnold ,
I think he's going to be a solid 3rd line centre for the Flames down the road.

My problem with Klimchuk is he seems like a top-6-or-bust type of guy. Voting Kylington.

Late to the party...Klimchuk FTW.

I have to say I'm honestly surprised at all the love Kylington is getting. Not debating that he's skilled, but he's got a lot of work to do to be an NHLer.

It's his skating. It gets visions of Paul Coffey and Scott Niedermayer dancing in people's heads.

From what I understand, Klimchuk is the opposite of a top six or bust type of guy. Does everything well and will be able to slot in anywhere in the line up. Similar to how Frolik is described right now.

You could say the same thing about Kylington too. He's either going to be a top 4 offensive dynamo or playing in Europe.

Kylington for the 8th straight time.....it will be embarrassing to look back at this poll and see him ranked so low....

This is incredible. We'll likely still be having heated debates at the fifteenth spot. Most years, the "I can't believe you could have this guy over that guy" debates have mostly dried up by around round seven and it becomes more meh/formality voting at that point.

Our prospect base had obviously grown, but this summer's ranking project is honestly the first time I'm sitting back and going "whoa!".

...and to think, Monahan and Gaudreau could have been here too, but they just decided to become first line NHL stars right away, instead.
