Good questions, I saw the ads on Showcase, this weekend, but can't recall if they were showing it or a related channel.

Bah, Showcase sucks for PVRs sometimes. I hope they have the descriptions correct for this series.

I kept getting a Farscape vibe from it. That's not a bad thing by any means but the dialogue and character interaction reminded me of that. Probably just similar costume and makeup design. It's set on the DVR to record so I'll ride out the first season and see where it goes.

Kind of a Babylon 5 meets Tera Nova. The show has some promise; I set the PVR for Monday's episode.

I actually just read the write-up on Wikipedia; which actually answers some of the things I either missed or they didn't mention in the show. (Like why they terraformed Earth when it's obvious humans have no issues with the changes.) I think they could have spent some more time going over the history of the last 33 years.

Well you have pretty good instincts. The head writer was also a Farscape writer, so that's likely why you get that feeling.

As far as the opener went, I thought it was pretty decent. There was definitely an element of camp to it, which I usually don't care for, but they weren't so heavy-handed with it that it made me cringe throughout.

I like the idea of seven different alien races all originating from the same solar system coming to Earth. It provides an opportunity for a lot of different backstory between the various alien races -- their relationship with each other, their relationship with humans and their culture and customs. If the writers develop rich lore, it could provide for an interesting universe.

I'll definitely keep watching. I'm interesting to see where it goes.

I tired but couldn't get halfway through it as it showed me no depth and already too much of a "soap opera" element to it, just not for me i guess.

Are there annoying teenage characters with family issues in this show? If not, I might give it a shot.

^^ Don't bother then. One of the main story lines is a human girl in love with an alien who could pass for a vampire; and how both of their parents oppose the relationship.

There was an over-compinsating amount of under-boob this episode though.

Just finished watching the pilot last night.

All in all not bad. Had to Wikipedia some of the backstory though as I was a little lost on a couple things. As someone already mentioned, has elements from a few other previous sci fi shows (Babylon 5, terra nova, even Firefly I would say) but I liked it and will watch a few more episodes to see we're it goes.

Definitely got a video game vibe from it as well which makes sense as they released the game at the same time as the show. Almost felt like Skyrim meets sci fi with all the different factions, races, contrasting characters, differing environments in and out of the town, etc.

Oh and Bear McCreary (series musical composer) is awesome.

I've enjoyed the first couple of episodes and set up a series recording on the PVR so hope that wasn't a mistake!

With any luck, they'll get the time to expand the show and let it grown into itself - too many sci fi shows get cancelled before they can really get any momentum going with an audience.

Also, just saw the 2nd episode & thought the scenes of the buried St. Louis were kinda cool...rather unrealistic but still a neat setting.
