Screw it I'm wearing shoes to the beach today. Or I'll go buy old man sandals with all the straps
I wear sandals a lot when traveling in warm climates and can walk kilometres. I’ve never had this problem.

Huge chunk of it is definitely how you walk. By the end of the day yesterday I had changed my heel-toe pattern in a way that kept them on, it was just something I wasn't used too so it killed my calves.

No doubt I'd get used to it in a day or two but I called it quits instead (also it's the rgmg thread, no room for being reasonable. Hard stances only. #### sandals)

I don't know if its a gear grinder. But once every quarter I have to get a blood test. Usually its in and out no problem. It must have been rookie day today as I had a really nervous person profoundly apologizing as he continually missed that big vein in your arm.

Living in the Middle East as long as I did, I had sandal envy for my Arab clients. Just strolling into the office with sandals on. That's the dream.

I have lots of dreams…none of which involve strolling into the office.

I hate bloodwork. My veins are difficult to find, so if the tech listens to me, it's quick. If not, it's up and down both arms and the back of both hands.

Yeah that can be frustrating. My veins aren't even that hard to find, but they're towards the side and not in the middle. Last week the tech starts looking in the middle of my arm, I tell her there's no vein there. She insists there is and that it will hurt less than the vein to the side, jabs me and starts digging around. Sure enough nothing there and it starts to get pretty painful before she finally gives up and goes for the one I told her to in the first place.

I have taken regularly and so I'm really, really used to it and the nurses always say that my veins are easy to find but you always get the occasional one who has trouble.

I am really easy-going as a patient, calm and everything. I only really ask for one thing from the Nurse.

"If you miss the vein, take the needle out and try again. Please do not jiggle the needle while its in my arm."

Its like they dont understand how much that hurts.

After someone said the bolded I'd have gone with "I don't consent to you inserting that into the middle of my arm, only the side"

"The Sounds of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkle is an effective earworm killer. Try playing that in your head.

'Impact' has been so impactful in the way people express themselves, impacting the English language so much over the last 10 years.

Much easier with the Pentatonix version to get stuck in your head.

Parents who buy their kids electric 'Power Wheels' cars (or whatever they're called these days).

So loud and obnoxious. No, I don't particularly want my kid to have a ride (but hey, very generous of your kid to offer up the passenger seat and never ever ever offer a turn at the wheel, cool!).

Somehow the dynamic is different than just about any other "look at that toy!" or invitation to play situation. No = guaranteed tantrum (and probably a long one as we hear the echo of those ####ty plastic tires for minutes to come) . Yes = disrupts whatever fun we were already having and means an annoying period of jogging along to make sure they don't get squished by a Suburban or rollover on a curb. Brutal.

Maybe I'm just the fun police...or maybe not:

Holy fk, could cub scouts, guides, hockey teams, etc. fk right off with bottle drives? We throw ours in the blue bin, but even if we didn't, the last group of Saturday morning goofballs would have already grabbed the bottles, so what's the point of coming a week later to disturb our Saturday morning?

Parents: pay for your own kids' stupid-ass activities. Or sell me something...50/50 tickets, popcorn, whatever. Just don't come bothering me with your hand out for your priveleged activity on a weekend. Such a piss off.

Our neighborhood scouts put a request flier in our mail boxes the week before, then I just put the bag out if I have one for them Saturday morning with the flier on it. They never ring the bell. I like that system.
