Weaving accidents in this scenario are typically not catastrophic accidents.

Fair, but they will grind everything to a halt.

Then again, Glenmore slows significantly approaching the reservoir for much of the day (though the SWRR should reduce Crowchild flyover traffic) because everyone thinks they needs to get their weave done in the first 50m. If that whole stretch were just set to 70 it might flow a little better.

Yeah, I know it's not six lanes, but it's wide enough that it could accommodate that many which is what I was getting at. Going from SB Sarcee > EB Glenmore and changing all the way over to the 37 St exit (particularly where this guy did it) is a huge amount of space to be covering laterally in a very short amount of time.

There's not enough volume there, nor enough traffic trying to get across, to grind it a halt like the Deerfoot or Glenmore weaves. Not even close.

Don't get me wrong, this is not ideal by any means and the original barrier should have been kept but I'm not calling this hell on earth until I see it in action.

No official word from KGL. If not tomorrow then +/- a couple days but it doesn't make sense to me that they wouldn't be ready given the astronomical late fees and how much work they're doing on 2021 stuff and have been doing for weeks.

As recently as September 22 they have said it will be open October 1.

Wouldn’t be a story in 2020 about maybe the biggest infrastructure story in the City’s history, without half the article about people who are complaining about sound or the minute potential for someone to randomly wander 140 feet onto the freeway, even though they ALL knew it was coming for the last decade and a half.

You mean over 65 years. The ring road plans in various forms predate the neighbourhoods that the people complaining live in.

When the development plans for Cougar Ridge were originally drafted, the developer had included trees along the ridge to create a barrier from the TUC, but the trees were removed from the plan on the insistence of the Department of Highways. This baffles me. Most of the communities along the ring road route are relatively new, and all of these issues could have been avoided by offloading the costs of berms, barriers, grading, and trees onto developers.

I predict little to no difference as most would not be aware of the new road and traffic being open on it. 6 weeks from now will be more interesting.

Does anyone know what the holdup is on completing 22x to Tsuu Tina trail? I drive bye there everyday and it seems ready to be opened as well. Most paving has been completed.

14th will still be the most direct route to the city centre. The ring road is only useful for people heading from the SW to the NW. How many people driving north on 14th every day are heading to MRC, the U of C, Westhills, or highway 1 out of the city? I doubt traffic on 14th will be reduced much.

I've said it a bunch of times, there is no hold up... the target date from the outset was October 1, 2021 for the Fish Creek-22X portion. They appear to be ahead of schedule, but there is no plan as of now for it to open before next summer. The way the contracts are structured is such that there is no benefit to opening a year early.

I wonder since many may want to do this, how Crowchild interchange is gonna handle the influx of new traffic patterns? It's such a tight interchange, that it's hard to upgrade it to be free flow in all direction essentially. It may give more incentive to have Sarcee Trail be free flow itself, and have interchanges at both Richmond and Bow Trail, to handle the traffic that may prefer to enter downtown via Bow Trail.
