I had a friend that worked at the dome, and she said that Dion Phaneuf is a horrible human being.
I met Fleury at an autograph signing back in the early 90’s, and stopped being a fan after that. He didn’t say a word to anyone, even the kids, and didn’t even look at anyone. Ron Stern was there, and he was great.
My ex mother-in-law was one of the managers at the Ranchman’s, and they used to kick Vernon out all the time, with him saying “do you know who I am?”

I’ve heard Vernon was an ass and I’m definitely not surprised at Fleury of course.

Phaneuf…yeah, he was a piece of work. A neighbour’s daughter was a Stampede princess and Phaneuf met her at some function and stalked her afterwards. She allegedly had to get a restraining order against him. I say allegedly because I didn’t hear that story from her or her family, but from another neighbour.

Mike Leclerc. Seemed aloof and too good to talk to anyone.
Can I do the opposite now?
Lanny McDonald is an absolute gem of a human being.

Oh yay. One of those threads where we use brief anecdotal experiences around a person to determine their entire personality, then rank them!
Because as we all know, catching a person on a bad day or stressful moment is a myth.
If you were a jerk for a minute you're just a jerk.

Seems far fetched.
If Phanef was salking an individual to the point of having a restraining order placed, wouldn’t that have made the news in some fashion?

That’s why I said allegedly. I don’t doubt he made unwanted advances towards her, but the restraining order may well have been a fabrication/exageration.

Haven't met an unfriendly Flame yet. Granted it's only been like..... Bertuzzi, Cammalleri, Bennett, Jankowski, Mike Smith, Langkow, Owen Nolan, Gaudreau, Hunter Smith, Marcus Granlund.
All polite and in celebratory settings. Cammy was the nicest of em all.

I wish Cammy would be a part of Flames broadcasts in some way like Sarich and Stajan have been.

That’s. crazy, I met Fleury around few times in 2012-2015 and he was really cool! Signed my book and was really polite. Even when he was just sending mail at the post office in Cranston. I know how people feel about him now, but he was nice to me.

Only time I saw a bit of a Diva attitude was actually Gio’s wife. They were walking out of the Apple Store in chinook mall, and some teens were saying hey Gio! They were like 13 or 14.. ish; but Gios wife looked pissed and they both kinda stormed off.. typical Apple Store experience.

Fair enough. I’ve heard a few things about Phaneuf during his time in Calgary too that doesn’t really put him in a good light either.
I think it’s fair to say he came with some entitlement issues, and it sounds like he carried this outside of the rink as well. It seemed tolerable during his first few years but wore thin over time leading to his trade which certainly was a rash decision at the time and still does today.

Lol I may have been at this exact same signing -- was it at a sporting goods store on McLeod Trail (I can't recall the name of it)? And I also recall having the exact same impression of Fleury and Stern.
