Too bad about the visa issue for Denis although a little bit of rest and practice before Shanghai isn't a bad thing. Vasek is currently going through qualifiers to make the main draw in Tokyo and Milos will face Tricky Troicki in his opening round match.

So only 100 or so more rankings points to lose for Genie and she has to qualify for Australia, so it'll be interesting to see her approach for the rest of the year tournament wise. Also abundantly clear she put her entire year into beating Maria in an utterly meaningless match. Hope it was worth it, and I'm guessing to her it was since it allowed her to smack talk Maria, the same Maria who will probably end up with more match wins than Genie this year, despite playing in far fewer tournaments.

Thought about dropping this in the FOI forum regarding the big news of the day, but I'll drop it here instead. I figure Mango and GirlySports will like it lol:
Spoiler!

Good start for Milos in Tokyo: 6-3, 6-4 over Troicki.
It may be strategic at this point coming off of injury, but playing an almost constant backhand slice game and hitting several one handed backhands was quite a departure from his game we all know. Will be interesting to see if he sticks with this the rest of the year or if its just a confidence thing.
He did show some fantastic shot making at times and constant desire to get back to his serve and volley success which was encouraging to see.

British tennis player Dan Evans has been banned from playing for a year after testing positive for cocaine.
The International Tennis Federation announced the ban in a statement on Tuesday. Evans will be able to return to action from April 24, 2018.
The British No. 4 provided a urine sample at the Barcelona Open on April 24, 2017 and was provisionally suspended in June after it was flagged.
The ITF statement read: "Mr. Evans promptly admitted his violation. The ITF accepted Mr. Evans' account of how the cocaine got into his system and that he bears no significant fault or negligence for the violation."
Felix loses in straight sets to tour veteran Dmitry Tursunov of Russia at the ATP Challenger event in Stockton (literally, a man twice his age as Felix is 17, Dmitry is 34).
