Cammalleri gives a really good interview. Doesn't feed us the stock answers, and his "uhhs" and "umms" per sentence are pretty low.

I didn't see it, but does Phaneuf get suspended?

The Flames need to play hard and beat these teams. They very well may end up facing Columbus or Phoenix in the 1st round, and I could NOT sustain a 1st round upset by one of them.

They played almost the whole game with 5 d-men. That accounts for a big part of it.

Thought the game was pretty evenly played - can't underestimate losing Dion Phaneuf in the 1st - that's not just a dman you lose - that's a guy that logs 25 minutes. Without him the Flames blueline looked a lot slower out there to say the least. Kudos to Pardy for stepping up - not sure if the rest of the blueline did - but he sure had a good game.

We may be looking at coming back from the All-Star break with both Phaneuf and Regehr out of the lineup.

Wow, that was a totally unexpected surprise! I was fully expecting a shootout loss, since we usually suck pretty hard in those. That was a crazy game, and I'm happy we escaped with the 2 points. But man, this team definitely has a few things to work on during the all-star break. They should probably start with their defensive zone coverage and then move on to the PP. I wonder if the coaches have a "defending against short-handed goals" drill they can put the guys through? And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they've now played 9 periods of hockey without having a lead.

But hey, 2 points is 2 points. Thank god for Bertuzzi and our awesome PK!

i have to agree. i thought for sure he was gonna get burned on 2 or 3 straight dekes again, but he's finally figured out how to beat the deke now apparently. aggressive stick checking made Williams and Nash look useless, and forced Vorachek to try a shot which he's much better at stopping. hopefully he can keep that same aggressive style going for future shootouts

I agree, I get frustrated every time I see Boyd out there lately, no strength on the puck whatsoever.

Lombo wins more battles then Cammalleri does.

Boyd on the other hand does really need to work on his strength.

Pretty sloppy game. I would chalk that up to Phaneuf, but there was some very sloppy forward play too. Neutral zone play was not very good. They turned alot of pucks over there. Other than one of the Umberger goals, where he fell backwards, Kipper was great and held them in.
D core was definetly exposed without Phaneuf and I hope that can show people that despite the criticism, Phaneuf has been very solid this year and is a huge part of the team.

Considering how brutal the Flames played at times, that was a pretty exciting game. I can't get enough of Cammalleri, wow.

And I like that it was Big Bad Bert who saved the day. Kinda the icing on the cake of a weird game.

Pardy looked very very solid. I liked his "Pardy smash!" hit in the second.

Like losing 6-3 to phoenix?

Boy oh boy, they won the game, and half of the posts are 'Sarich is brutal', 'Aucoin is awful', "Iginla is gonna miss!!'. Would you rather be cheering on the Islanders? I don't get what is so overtly wrong with this team that we are winning a game we 'didn't deserve to win'. Brutal.

I think this game demonstrates how important Dion is to the team. Regehr, Giordano, and Pardy stepped up. But Aucoin and Sarich struggled and were forced to play a lot more minutes than usual.

At the end of the day, it was an entertaining game with a good all around result.

Does Nash ever come back into his own zone?

First Flames game I've got to watch in a while (just got cable in my res room). Entertaining, some hair-pulling and head-shaking but a win is a win and the Flames have the two points!
