The first real roadie of the year ends tonight in Denver. A dominant game in Nashville, a disappointing night in St Louis, what will the Flames bring to the table tonight? Whatever it is, they'll bring it on HNIC.
Not a lot of news so far this morning, so a few points from www.calgarysun.com:
Quote:
Avalanche ace Nathan MacKinnon is riding a four-game goal-scoring spree and can log his name in the club history books with a snipe against the Flames. The franchise record for the longest lamp-lighting streak to start a new season is five straight dates, set by Hockey Hall-of-Famer Mats Sundin back in the Quebec Nordiques era.
Flames centre Mikael Backlund was M.I.A. for Friday’s practice in the Mile High City, with bench boss Bill Peters characterizing it as a “maintenance day” and telling reporters he is optimistic No. 11 will be ready to roll against the Avalanche. It’s not a sure-thing, though. If Backlund needs a night off, Mark Jankowski would return to the lineup.
That Darn Puppet has been enjoying a few days off, but he's ready to go tonight. While getting in a little exercise, he still manages to greet some adversaries in his usual style:
Spoiler!
Go Flames

Puppet guy, I love your pictures from last season, and so far, each of your videos deserve a bloody oscar. Never change, man.
I really like the way the flames battled back in a losing cause on Thursday. Hopefully they start off on the right track and bury a couple early. Our goaltending makes me nervous, especially with the way Rittich performed in the preseason. I do hope he rebounds and makes a strong case to stay as Smith's backup this year.

I have not bought a new Adidas jersey or had even really looked at them yet but now that I have how come most teams have something cool written at the back of the collar but we don't? Why would they not put C Of Red there?
Need a good rebound game on HNIC. A 2-1 road record is a successful trip in my books. 1-2 not so much. Let's see the GA cut down and a solid effort from all lines.
Jankowski being out of the lineup is both ludicrous and stupid.

Peluso being in the lineup is ludicrous and stupid. He's going to continue to suck all the offense out of the 4th line.
Scoring depth matters in games like these.

It is surprising to have a 17 goal scorer out of the line up but who does he replace? Dube? Ryan? I would argue that Dube is a more dynamic center, better passer, and a faster skater. Ryan is better defensively and better at faceoffs.
Janko is mostly a shooter. Has some good hands and protects the puck well. But Bennett and Neal are both similar players. Someone needs to pass the puck on that line and Bennett isn't the best playmaker. Dube is a better fit on that line.
Janko is a big man. If he can protect the puck and continue to use his size, I'm sure he will play his way back into the lineup. He just needs to make the most of his next opportunity.
Peters won't let him sit out too long. I'm sure we see a Frolik - Janko - Ryan line when we're playing some softer teams. Ryan probably taking most of the faceoffs though
