just a little news bulletin
the flames have more points than the blues at this point.
https://www.nhl.com/standings
now the blues do have two games in hand but the flames also have a better goal differential.
the reason i find this interesting is that many, myself included, have a bit of an inferiority complex about the flames this season. this team is playing at a pace to make the playoffs full stop. just great to be up in the mix again.

Very happy Gully realizes that Mony and Johnny just aren't working this year, really like these lines. Bennett getting going would do wonders for this team.

I think Hathaway will play regardless tommorow given the meatheads the Oilers have in their lineup.

Nice, I like the lines. I like what Versteeg and Brouwer bring to Monahan's line. I think they all have good skill level and seem to play well together. I really hope this experiment to get Sam going will work. Playing with JG can't hurt his chances of turning it on tonight.
Tonight is the night Sam Bennett pulls everything together. 10-2 flames, Sam makes someone a millionaire with the Safeway score and win.
Does anyone know if Hallsy is going to be suspended for his elbow to Kassian's face? Not that I didn't enjoy that, but it would be nice if he wasn't playing tonight.
Go Flames Go.

Agreed, I mean the Flames have 23 wins with that terrible start and have really only played at their full potential for maybe a week and a half this season. If Johnny-Bennett can heat up and Monahan can rekindle that chemistry with Versteeg we will be in a very good place!

Yeah, I don't see why it's worth constantly making a stink about.
That being said the Devils deserve to get crushed for not coming through last night.

The big thing is that the Flames control their own destiny. If they can stay ahead of a that 3rd Central team then it gives more flexibility at the wild card if one of Dallas or Nashville go on a roll.

I don't think Elliott has been that bad. But Johnson is clearly the better option for both of these games, and the Flames can't afford to piss away any of these 4 points. I don't see why Chad can't start both. If I'm not mistaken, he's played back-to-back before this year, and the travel to Edmonton is very quick.

I know he's not Hiller bad but I get that same uneasy feeling every time we get a shot against as I did with Hiller...

Here's New Jersey's projected lineup:
Hall/Henrique/Parenteau
Cammalleri/Zajac/Palmieri
Wood/Kalinin/Beau Bennett
Coleman/Smith-Pelly/Lappin
Merrill/Lovejoy
Quincey/Severson
Stollery/Santini
Anyone else not surprised they're as awful as they are with that lineup? Defensive pairings of Merrill/Lovejoy, Quincey/Severson??? That's just bad. Stollery/Santini?...
I actually think Miles Wood could become something good, but the rest of those 3rd and 4th line forwards? Um....woof.
I'll be hugely disappointed if the Flames lose to this sorry ass team.
