Spin a wheel, they all deserve it but my money goes to Keith.

Hoping for Weber. I put money on it at the beginning of the season.

While I agree, I think Weber is just a beast in his own right. Both Keith and Chara have an incredible supporting cast which makes point production a little easier. 23 goals and 33 assists was very impressive.

I'd go with Keith for sure. The best of the 3 in my opinion.

does team success come into play at all? I won't pick Weber because of that. I think there should be an element of team success and with that Chara and Keith are the front runners. My money is on Keith though, he is a beast.

Keith gets a ton of points... but the other guys are much better. Keith doesn't go up against top players and I think that's a key to this award.
EDIT: That chart posted above is good.

Between Chara and Keith I would probably go with Keith as without him I don't think the Hawks would be an elite team as unlike the Bruins the Hawks get only good but not elite goaltending. I would have voted Suter over Weber as Suter was right behind Brian Leetch's minutes per game record this year. The guy plays essentially half of every Wild game and without him they would be nowhere near a playoff team.

Meh. That's just good coaching. Line up your offensive guy against the weakest competition to me is proper strategy. Subban and Karlsson have proven you don't have to be stellar in your own end to win the Norris.

Those 2 probably shouldn't have won the Norris.
Best offensive defenceman, sure, but they are not close to being among the best overall defencemen.
The voters don't know what the Norris trophy is.

Well they did in successive years so what's your point? You claim the voters don't know but maybe it's you that doesn't know. IMO the Paul Coffee vs Scott Stevens type debates have been going on for decades to what makes the best defenseman. It's an overall vote. Keith may not be a shut down defenseman but he's an integral piece of one of the best NHL teams of the past decade and arguably he and Teows are the straws that stir that drink. You can make a very good argument for Chara but not Weber. Weber is good and all but since Suter left town he's kind of been exposed a little bit being a minus player over the past few years. I look at it as the Preds were a playoff team with Suter and Weber and the Wild were not a playoff team. The Wild get Suter and they are a playoff team and the Preds no longer.

That the voters don't know what they're doing.
Weber should win this year, but he won't. Keith will win, but he really doesn't even deserve a nomination.

Good to see it's not just 1-2-3 in points. Leaving out Karlsson shows that there's still room for pure defensive play in this award. I'd still take Chara over anyone else in his own end, but probably have to give it to Keith based on his superb play in both ends, regardless of his easier deployment. Seeing Weber there (being on a pretty horrible team) makes me think that 18 games was the only thing between Gio and a nomination. Kinda sad.

Makes sense.
The people who decide the winner of an award obviously don't know who deserves to win the award.
