It's Treliving. He'd be looking to add a first even if we already had 3

Be that as it may, you still need to be able to replace him with a better player.

I hope we don’t trade Brodie. With a new coach in we’d likely see him on his regular side and I’d expect old Brodie to return. I’d be more then okay with packaging Ferland and a prospect+pick for a 1st.

He isn't very good. Good bottom 6 guy who went on a few hot streaks and played with the team's top 2 guys.

If Ferland gets you a 1st round pick, you make that deal 10/10 times.

I don't want to see the Flames trade Brodie. I'd like to see if they can trade Stone, for certain, and definitely trade Ferland. Go after Stastny/JVR/Kane in the offseason to play on the top line, get Thomas Vanek (did you see what he did this year with Vancouver/Columbus? he's been a great presence) or someone similar to play with Bennett and Jankowski, and bring in established NHL players to play on the fourth line -- not scrubs like Tanner freaking Glass.

I really think JVR will be a Flame next year.

Basing it on nothing but where he's from, but maybe Hickey grew up as an oil fan and see a good opportunity to play for his favorite team growing up? Their defensive depth is basically non existent, so he might have an easier route to find a full time spot on an NHL team right away.

Ferland over an 82 game stretch from Feb 21 2017 onwards had 27G and 17A.

That's not extrapolation it's just raw goal scoring.

He's gone cold at the end of this season like the rest of our roster but anyone who can score 27G in 82GP is not someone you sell when his actual career high will be less than that.

This is a joke right? No way I want Hamonic moved.

You're free to your opinion, but I have not seen Hamonic bring anything that has helped us win games. We had more success last year with a turnstile in Dennis Wideman because as slow and confused as he was wont to be he actually had offensive ability and was no worse a penalty killer.

If a good deal exists to trade Hamonic for a solid scoring winger, I'd definitely support it given our excess depth on the backend. He's our 3rd best D and very one dimensional; a dimension he wasn't even that great at this year. Having said that, I think any comparisons to Wideman are a bit extreme...I don't think Hamonic is in danger of being out of the league next year due to no one wanting him.

Hamonic is a stay at home defenseman. He's not going to be putting up goals on a daily basis when that isn't his main job. He's the least of our problems.

And when your partner is TJ freaking Brodie most nights your obviously going to have a rough time.

You mean just like Hamilton is one dimensional? Guy can score but is butter soft in his own end. I wouldn't say he's any better defending then Hamonic.

If I had to pick one, I'd take Hamilton over Hamonic any day...

I think, on defense, you definitely keep Giordano and Hamilton. I'd actually venture that the Flames could stand to add a defenseman that plays the left side... if they trade Brodie, their LHD depth starts to look awfully thin: Giordano, Kulak, and then... Kylington? Yikes.

I'll guess Brodie for top 6 forward and Bennett for late 1st round pick.
