My off season started last night with about 10 minutes left to go in the game.

I opened up my playbook for this season, and started to mess around with some formations.

I added a unbalanced line short yardage package, took out my I set and replaced it with a balanced split backfield and started to add an option package.

It was the most productive I've been. My concern is that I don't have to have this done til the first week of June.

The other thing is that I can start going to the gym after work instead of on the way to work.

I'm going to reserve my energies so that I can approach the upcoming Stampeders season in a dispassionate way. Fooled me twice in the last 2 Grey Cups. not getting too emotionally invested, just like with the Flames.

Ill watch the playoffs(Vegas, Nashville and the Leafs), as well as the NBA. Then when that is all done, Ill turn my attention to the MLB and anxiously await football(NFL).

Will be cheering on Crosby and the Pens, just like most of the last decade.

Fans in another study reported feeling schadenfreude when reading about the injury of a rival team’s player, and gluckschmerz (sadness at others’ good fortune) when later reading about the player’s unexpectedly speedy recovery.

I’ll cheer for Philadelphia from afar. Won’t be going out if my way to watch any hockey. Counting down until the CFL seasons starts.

I sure have been feeling a lot of this this season. It actually annoys me a team like the Bruins can go from Cup champion, competitive for another few years, retool on the fly, and be a Cup favorite 6 or 7 years later. Not fair!

I've been suffering since 1995 with a brief respite in 2004. Of course, the NHL saw fit to cancel 2005 and the momentum from 2004 was lost. Good times.

Raptors might do something in the playoffs this year. Still lots of other sports out there to very quickly make you forget about the Flames.

^ So for some there is one sport that sits above them all. When you grow up with it, living and breathing and playing, other sports pale in comparison.

Me, I can watch pretty much any sport. And know for whom I cheer. But displace hockey? Not bloody likely. (Said in that not bloody lack- lehhh kind of way)

Basketball? Counting to 100 in 2 point increments. Given better alternatives, pass. I can watch the last few minutes of games, and some playoffs when there is a storyline, but generally? Meh.

It's been nice to have that plan B for the last decade

Wtf is with cheering for Vegas? A division rival who got to poach the league and has instant success while we toil in mediocrity yet again. F that group, I hope they get swept in 4 games. I hope the Sharks do too. And the Ducks. And the Kings. I know that is not all possible but I want to see it anyhow dammit. Will probably cheer for Toronto.

Leaf fan in the house, so, there's that. May root for Vegas, but I don't know yet. We'll see if they can woo me. Otherwise, along about September, I'll be getting antsy for real hockey.

I work nights, so, watching playoffs would take a special effort, lacking a team that I am compelled to follow. Past years, I would DVR the Blackhawks and watch the 1st two periods before getting a couple hours of sleep, then waking to finish the game, before rushing through my normal pre-work routine.

So, I will be able to catch some box scores, but, am unlikely to follow any of the games very closely.

Vegas is the only team I would root for, just because of the novelty
