I’ll just say this now: if the two hits on the QB in #MINvsGB are indeed fouls for roughing the passer, I am glad that I am no longer on the field and have to make those calls.

Both terrible calls. Even my fanatical Viking supporter son didn't like the call on Matthews, but it was easier to accept since Kendricks had been called earlier.
What an entertaining game that was though!

Much like the NHL has done, they are legislating the actual game....away.
Im souring on both.
That Matthews call was as ridiculous as any.....im really not sure what else they are supposed to do if, in fact, that was a roughing call under the existing rules.
In my eyes it was a text book hit delivered well within the time frame allowed.
Literally cost them the game...and this comes a week after Rodgers had all a linesmans weight come down on him and injure his knee with no call.
Bush league stuff.

As for tonights game....simply dont have a feel for it at all.
I know the Bears are 4 pt. favorites but are the Hawks really going 0-2?
Also noticed the Vikes opened up as 16.5 pt favorites over the Bills next week. HUGE spread for the NFL.

I was also pretty perplexed by that call. Right in the "allowed" contact area, and Cousins arm was still moving forward from what I remember and it's easy to see no weight being forced on him or however that call is worded.
Im wondering if it's even worth trying to build a top NFL defense any more as the game is tailored so much to keeping the offense on the field as scoring as many points as possible. The NFL has to realize that quarterbacks are going to get hurt from time to time.
Clay Mathews' hit was perfectly clean
Bolded: Not really the same play at all, weird comparison. Play was also perfectly fair

Pick em game.
Huge opportunity for the Bears to get back in as the NFC North played out about as well as possible for them yesterday.... So I'm expecting a loss

Browns to sign kicker Greg Joseph
https://www.cleveland.com/browns/ind...rt_river_index
Quote:
Joseph spent training camp with the Miami Dolphins after signing as an undrafted free agent out of FAU. He lost a training camp competition to Jason Sanders, who the Dolphins picked in the seventh round of last April's draft.
Joseph became FAU's all-time field goal leader in 2017. He spent five years at the school after redshirting his freshman year. He played just one year of football in high school at American Heritage Delray.
Gonzalez missed four kicks on Sunday against the Saints, all in the second half, including a potential game-tying field goal in the closing seconds. All told, he missed two field goals and two extra points.

According to the referee yesterday Matthews was called for bringing all his weight down on Cousins...same thing happened the week before. Both are ridiculous which is why i comparing them.

Nah, they just need to use Foles at receiver until Jeffrey returns.

I remember Rodgers injury being RRH tackling Rodgers as he fell down in the pocket though, didn't have him wrapped, just dove for a sack.
Either way I guess I can see your point, and in either situation I think defensive players have to be able to comfortably feel like they can make plays on the football.
There was a play earlier in the GB/MIN game where a Packers DE had Cousins half wrapped and let him go only for Cousins to roll out and make a play. I think on that specific play the Packers player had thought Cousins threw the ball, but either way he let up because he was likely afraid to take a penalty.

I think they are still okay. Should have won yesterday as they were a dropped 4th down pass from putting that one away but I don't know who's going to beat the Rams so that game was always going to be a loss so 0-2 is pretty good with a schedule like this;
- at Dolphins: they beat the Dolphins in Miami last season with the worst coaching staff in the NFL (KNJ and Downing) and so next week very winnable as the Dolphins have played two bad teams.
- vs Browns: will be tougher than a normal Browns team but at home that's a game they should win.
- at Chargers: will be difficult but not impossible as the Raiders will have home field in LA and have beaten Rivers in the past.
- vs Seahawks: very winnable as the Hawks are not very good this season and will have issues defensively as well KNJ is one of the worst defensive coordinator in the history of the NFL.
- vs Colts: again very winnable at home to a mediocre Colts team.
- at 49ers: another game that will be like a home game. Will be difficult bot not impossible.
- vs Chargers: will be tough again would hope to split with this team.
- at Cardinals: maybe easiest game on the schedule. Worst team in the league maybe this season.
- at Ravens: beat the Ravens in Baltimore a few seasons ago so winnable game.
- vs Chiefs: Loss as Reid owns the Raiders
- vs Steelers: I think Steelers are going to have a bit of a down season as their defense is terrible. Winnable game especially if Bell is not signed.
- at Bengals: haven't played in Cincinnati for a while. Will be difficult but again not impossible.
- vs Broncos: should have won yesterday. Will win this one.
- at Chiefs: Loss.
Easiest schedule the Raiders have had in years as no Patriots and no AFC North or East. I have them at 4-3 after 7 games as they should win 3 of the next 4.

Yes 0-2, Seattle are in trouble. This should be a win for the Bears. At home with a pretty awesome front 7 against one of the worst O lines in the league, a rapidly regressing quarterback and no Doug Baldwin. Plus the Hawks will be fielding a college defense with Wagner and Wright out and three or four other starters doubtful. Shouldn't get much easier for Chicago. Trubisky should look like Mahomes tonight.

Boo. Probably a pretty good landing spot for him though. They won't tolerate insubordination so he will have to be on his best behavior. May be a good place for him.
