But far weirder is having Adrian Kempe of all people on there in place of Jonathan Quick, who has a better sv% than both Demko and Gibson and is a bigger name... or Kopitar, who has 8 more points than Kempe, or Doughty, who is over a PPG. Very odd.

Putting Bergeron in over Marchand also doesn't make any sense.

Fair points except I don’t think they consider the 3 on 3 format in deciding. It’s more about the honour and representation than who is best for the team.

Timo Time over Hertl is wierd.

Points must mean more than goals.

Why does the NHL refuse to market its stars.

Too many no-names and omissions to count. I'd guess guys like Crosby don't want to participate, but it's in the best interest of growing the game for the real stars to come.

Not that I disagree, but how do you know they are bad if you don't watch them?

It's like saying I had a 1983 Ford and it was a giant POS so now every Ford is a POS (which is still probably true)

They do tweak the format a little so it isnt like its always the same

Looks to be the same case with Central too. Metro, on the other hand has 3 defensemen. 3 on 3 all star game. Doubt positions matter much.

4 – Joe Nieuwendyk
3 – Tom Lysiak, Mark Giordano
2 – Curt Bennett, Kent Nilsson, Lanny McDonald, Joe Mullen, Gary Roberts, Dion Phaneuf
1 – Randy Manery, Al McDonagh, Eric Vail, Bill Clement, Pekka Rautakallio, Paul Reinhart, Brad McCrimmon, Valeri Bure, Phil Housley, Miikka Kiprusoff, Mike Smith, David Rittich, Matthew Tkachuk

I'd like to see them change the format a touch.

Would have the divisions in the same conference play each other in round 1. Then have the winners play each other and the losers play each other. Winner of the winner game makes the final. The loser of the winner game plays the winner of the loser game. Winner goes to the final.

Then have a winner take all final for all the cash money on Sunday night.

Basically a double knockout until the grand final. May need to shorten the games further, but would be good to see more action.

Kipper only made one all star team, amazing. Never would have thought that.

Johnny is deserving this year for sure. It’s been one of his best.

But I agree with a lot of the comments around deserving players being overlooked because of the need for each team to send a player. I don’t think that makes sense.
