Another lefty!
We need to start employing a draft strategy of only drafting righties.
I'm excited to see what he can do at the next level. Does he still have a year of CHL eligibility, or is he AHL bound next season?

He turns 20 in April so I assume he'd be an over age player in the OHL next year.

Kerins gets a goal tonight in a 5-2 win over Owen Sound. 33gp/20g/34a/54pts,+2, 12 PIM. He's tied for third in OHL scoring with Matvei Petrov, and only 3 points out of first.

I'm not so sure. With the way he's producing I can see them wanting to get him back in the A, at least to start.

I'm going to assume the Flames sign him and he becomes a pro next year

The normal cycle of AHL roster turnover will likely see Kerins in Stockton next season.
Unless there's some sort of OHL challenge left for him?

I wasn't crazy about the pick at first but wow, this kid can play. I hope it carries over, this would be a much needed steal for the Flames.

Hopefully he adds to potential top 9 center depth for the big team. It'd be nice if Nikolaev, Kerins and Zary formed a top 9 center group. It'd go a long long way.
Also, I wasn't implying Kerins would play in the OHL as an over ager. Just that he would be an over ager .
I fully anticipate his arrival to the AHL next season. Same with Nikolaev.

*Jiri about to post that Thomas has been a disappointment at the NHL level.
Maybe I should check his stats first.
30 points in 31 games.
Never mind

First star. He’s second in OHL scoring (as of right now), and is 2 points behind Wyatt Johnston (Dallas first-rounder).

It's so like Gaudreaus to show up a good Flames prospect.

Man I love this pick. Hopefully he can turn into a Mangiapane type player for us.
A couple of other OHLers from that draft that were passed over who I hope we take a flyer on: Logan Morrison and James Hardie.

The draft was such a crap shoot because of how much development time was lost. Credit to the scouts, we seemed to potentially have struck gold with this pick. Great stuff.

Kerins, Zary, Francis all have been great post draft, although Francis is off to a bit of a slow start this season.
Honestly I don't see it with Nikolaev. His USHL production as a 20 year old just isn't very impressive, and this is after dissapointing production in Russia.
Pospisil produced more than Nikolaev is right now as a 18/19 year old in the USHL.

Maybe it's not too late for him to try shooting right? I mean, he's still a prospect after all

Jack Beck is another good sleeper pick. 17 points in 12 games this season. I assume he is injured or something at the moment.
