Just thinking about baseball and it occurs to me that Kris Bryant is just a really good fit for the Jays. Both for now and in the near future...

Bat will replace a lot of the lost production from Semien.
Get's Biggio back at 2B where he looks way better.
Can play a corner OF so if Martinez continues like he has in the minors he's not blocked.
Won't cost a draft pick.

... they should sign him once the CBA is sorted out.

1: Draft lottery they propose is weak.
2: Don't like getting rid of Draft Pick compensation. If you want to get rid of draft pick forfeiture I'm cool with that but keep the compensation rounds.
3: I'm good with expanded playoffs.
4: I think there are better ways to address service time manipulation.
5: Nice to see low end salary getting a bump in the offer.
6: virtually no movement of the luxury tax is worrisome.

Always refreshing to see a little bump in this thread and some Jays news. However small it may be.

With Pitchers and catchers due to report in a month and bargaining, how shall we say this, not going great? I'm pretty convinced we're going to miss games this year.

The Blue Jays have agreed to deals with three more international free agents, bringing Toronto's total from this off-season to 21.
Right-handers Omar Munoz and Rodolfo Toledano, as well as outfielder Roque Salinas, all from Mexico, joined the Blue Jays' organization on Friday.

Did the Jays do enough this Offseason?

Im not so sure they are done yet.

Nothing will happen now until the CBA is hammered out though.

Lost the Cy Young winner and the guy who was 3rd in MVP voting to free agency.

Signed a couple decent pitchers.

I doubt they are done, just on pause because of the lockout.

Keith Law's Top 100 MLB Prospects list is out. Toronto has 4 players on the list.

https://theathletic.com/3074113/2022...chman-at-no-1/

6. Gabriel Moreno, C
44. Orelvis Martinez, SS
89. Kevin Smith, SS
99. Jordan Groshans, 3B

To be eligible for these rankings, a player must still be eligible for the Rookie of the Year award in 2022, which means they may not have more than 130 at-bats, 50 innings pitched, or 45 days on an active major-league roster heading into this season

I wasn't a big fan of the trade when it was first announced but Berrios is a solid player and getting him extended definitely makes it worth the risk of losing a possible impact player like Martin.

Berrios is ranked 25th among big-league starters for fantasy heading into this year, whenever it happens.

The symmetry is beautiful.

Yeah, the big risk on the Berrios trade was that he had limited control.

Now that the Jays took care of business and got him extended long term I do that trade again all day long.

That's an understatement, The Jays replaced Robbie Ray with a RH pitcher that had very similar numbers and that quite a few people would consider the better pitcher.
