I didn't care for it the first time.
Might need to give it another try.

At one time in my life I worked in that professional building. Gus' Pizza was amazing then (late 90's early 00's).
I am happy to hear it is still as good as ever!

Spicy sauce makes it amazing but I think it's more important that the pineapple gets cooked on top of the cheese so it caramelizes. Too many places put it under the cheese where it's just mushy and bland and makes the pizza soggy.

Salty and sweet is a great combination. That's why it gets paired with ham so often.

Spiros' "Anna's Island" pizza is grilled chicken, pineapple and chilli tomato sauce... Like you say, the sweet and spicy is very good, and dare I say, better than a normal Hawaiian.

Most chain pizza places have bland Hawaiian pizzas. Bland sauce and cheap ingredients so i can see why people hate it.
However, good pizza places that understand the nuances of putting sweet/salty/spicy on a pizza can turn a hawaiian into the best pizza on the menu.
Spiros Anna's Island is delightful. Posto's pineapple jalapeno is amazing

I can see why pizza places tend to keep Hawaiian pizza bland - it's probably one of the safer bets for kids along with cheese pizza. I don't mind Hawaiian - it's ok and I'll eat it if it is ordered but it isn't my go to.

Just say no to Gus's.
One and only time there and it was soggy and tasted of deli meat. Yuck.

I had the same experience as toonmaster with Gus's. Just wasn't very good. Papa Nikolas is my go-to now.

Inglewood Pizza is better than Gus's in my experience with Greek style pizza in the city. Spiros being the best in my opinion.

Another good spot is Michael's by the Calgary Tower. It's a bit of a hole in the wall, but the deep dish is excellent and the patio views are great.

I like The Mash Pizza's Spicy Hawaiian. Ham, jalapeņos, red onions, and bacon, pineapple and they brown the cheese with the toppings under the cheese like pub style pizza. Its actually still relatively thin and not doughy as well which makes it even better.

I got a gift card for their for my B-day.
I'll have to hit it up and order this exact pizza.

wait, Michael's has a upstairs patio?
Our office used to be nearby so we'd always order pizza, never dined in, so did not realize there was an upstairs to the place.
Good pizza as well

Take out is fine. They have the best gluten free crust in the city, as well.

Gluten-free, much like anything with pineapple on it, is not pizza.
