Loob was one of my favourite players from the 80s ... from a drafted name to a guy coming over, to his surprisingly good start, to 50 goals, to cup champion.
But Iginla is #12

I maintain that Loob, given his contributions to international hockey and NHL performance, should be in the HHOF.
But this is Iggy.

He followed that up with a cup win and then rode out on his own terms. Despite being replaced by one of the best RWs in the world, the team took a step back. As with Jiri- when you weigh his body of work globally he should be a HOFer
but still this isn't a hard vote for me. Iggy was here for so long, some people will remember his warts- too nice or not nice enough, or etc...but there was a stretch where you could make a case he was the best in the world- just watch ACs 2004 playoff videos
Sorry Loober there are only about 3 numbers you couldn't win my vote for and this is one of them

Well said. Sucks that they both had to wear the same number, as Loob gets a little over looked now when people think of #12.

#12 is hanging from the rafters. This should also be a "no-vote."
No disrespect to Loob; he was one of my favourites from the Cup team, but he left right after winning it and spent a significant part of his prime years in Europe.
Iggy went to war for this team for almost two decades. He was The Captain. One of the greatest players to ever wear the Flaming C.

Iginla is my favourite hockey player EVER. He made me love hockey again. There will Never be a player that could do it all score, pass, hit, fight, lead, again, given the evolution to the weak ass game of pro hockey we see today.

How is this even up for a vote? It's Iginla and it's not close.

Look, just so we're all clear here, Iginla is my official vote.
But I had to vote for Loob because he was an absolutely incredible player and dynamite scorer who cut his own career short to go back home. Not many did that, even fewer who had the talent he did. Had he continued for as long as he could play, I suspect he would be near the top of the board like Fleury and Iginla.
He only played 450 games for the Flames, which ranks him 26th in franchise history. However, he scored 429 points, placing him 14th in franchise history, and scored 193 goals placing him 11th in Flames goal scoring history. This is the same team that had goal scorers like Iginla, Fleury, Nieuwendyk, McDonald, Nilsson, Roberts, Mullen, MacInnis, etc. He's right in with that group and played a lot less. He also has a sparkling +103 career +/-, showing that he was pretty responsible defensively to go along with all that offense.
I'm not trying to take anything away from Mr. Franchise (Iggy), but Loob really needs a lot of love here as well.

Time for my Hakan Loob story. I was lucky enough to go to Lillehammer for the 94 Olympics and was there for the gold medal hockey game between Canada and Sweden. The Swedes won with the famous “Forsberg” shootout goal. As the players were celebrating on the ice, I saw that our goalie, Cory Hirsch, was having a tough time so I went to ice level to give him my Canadian flag to skate around with and told him I was so proud of him and the team. As this was happening, Loob skated by me along the boards and I said “hey Hakan, we miss you in Calgary”. He skated back to me and said “haven’t you heard? I’m coming back!” Like many of you, Loob is one of my favourite players of all time so I excitedly said “REALLY???!!!”...to which he laughed and said “no, just kidding”.
Very mean thing to do to me at that particular time but so great. Just an awesome guy and one of the best players we’ve ever had.

Iggy is my all-time favorite player. It's been said a million times on this website all the great things he's done and achieved, so I won't list the reasons I loved him. He's simply the best.
One thing I will say is that its downright criminal he was not included in the 100 Greatest NHL Players list. I forgave Hockey Canada for not making him Captain in 2010, but this is a grudge I will take to my grave.

Like others, Loob is one of my top 5 players in the history of this team. Changed, entirely, how many in the NHL world looked at Swedes IMO. Just so damn smart and ridiculously smooth. A pleasure to watch.
Had to vote Iggy though because he's in the Top 1.
