Default The BlackBerry Thread

Since it would seem that the iPhone thread did get pretty sidetracked with talk about BB's in general, BBM, etc. (I had a pretty good hand in that derail - my bad), how about we have a brand new thread where we talk about anything BB oriented? (Watch those Apple dinks come in here and ruin this thread now )

So, BB's in general, getting a BB, coming from another phone to BB, BBM discussion, app discussion, OS 6.0 discussion, you name it, let's chat about BlackBerry's.

I'll go first...can't wait for my Bold 9700 to arrive. Should be delivered on Wednesday and then my iPhone 3G goes up for sale...

BB messenger... cool... except for the whole the person can see if you read the message or not. I hate that, it has gotten me in some sticky situations... especially when the sister in law was the one who told me about it after I said "no, sorry I didn't get that message"

Is the new OS out yet?

I love BBs. But I love Android more. And yet if someone put a 9700 and a Droid in front of me and said pick, I'd have a hard time deciding.

Anyone have any experience with changing OS ect?? I'm pretty new to the BB thing. From what I understand I can upgrade from whatever Telus installed into a newer better OS.

I regret buying a Blackberry with my plan. A pretty useless phone compared to the Iphone. The only thing that makes it worthwhile is BBM.

As soon as my contract is up I'm buying the newest Iphone.

Wow, Androids and iPhones mentioned in the first few posts. Didn't take as long as I thought it would.

So why is your BB useless puckluck? What makes the iPhone so much better?

And no, the new OS is not out yet. Not that I have heard. Changing OS's, you might want to check crackberry for details on doing things like that.

The internet for starters. Feels like I'm using a phone from the early 2000's when using the internet. The seemingly unlimited Apps with a jail broken Iphone.

I just find my BB just like any other phone aside from a couple good free Apps.

BBM is probably the only thing that the Iphone can not beat.

I hear ya' and many have commented on the browser, which there is no comparison for between the iPhone and the BB, but seriously, I hate browsing on my iPhone. Drives me nuts it's so small. That's what I have a computer for. I have a 21" WS monitor for my computer. That works.

I use a phone for emailing, texting and messaging. Oh....and phone calls...

lol... that didn't take long.

Blackberries as PHONES beat the iphone, hands down. For the thing Oilkiller listed above.. it's just a much better phone.

All the apps etc, cool non-phone stuff... that's why I have an ipod touch. I personally hate having my phone as my movie/music player... and game player too. I love Blackberries, and love my ipod touch.

BBM is the only thing that makes me wonder about a BB.

Yah actually the BB is better off for texts and emailing with the full keyboards,

I don't like browsing on my BB either unless I'm getting score updates or browsing CP on my way to Edmonton lol. I have a Ipod touch but that's useless when I'm at home and can just use a computer. I guess there are some negatives to each phone, but I think I'd rather have the Iphone.

It could all change when I actually use one though.

Lol and why's that? I have used one just not long enough to make a 100 percent decision. Before I got the BB I thought they were gods gift to earth.

edit: seems you have answered this first question

So you have never used an iPhone but you think it is better than a Blackberry? Or am I reading that wrong.

I have used both a Blackberry and an iPhone. I use my phone for email, the occasional BBM, Twitter, or Text message. The real keyboard on the BB is a must for my fingers give what I use it for.

If you really need a portable web browser though, Blackberrys are not as easy to use as an iPhone, where the multi-touch screen really shines. I guess surfing the web isnt that important to me.

For the last time, it's called a Blackberry, not a BB.

Yah I've used one for a bit, but that was only for a couple of days.

And browser is pretty important to me when I'm at work, and have no access to a computer.

My Ipod touch is great and I think I'd like it a lot better as a phone than a BB.

I got the joke.

Unless I am mistaken he gets mad when the iPhone is called an Iphone, but I could be confusing users.
