Default Wifi Access Point/Bridge

I have a fish tank monitoring system (Seneye Reef) that I want to connect to my router so that I can remotely monitor some of the parameters in my tank. I purchased their web access box (looks like and Apple TV) to allow me to upload the data to their website and then access it remotely via the web or their app.

Connecting it directly to my router is not really feasible due to distance, so I was looking for a wireless option. They use this but it is not available in Canada and has a UK plug which doesn't help me anyway. I would have to order one from the US that would cost around $150 with shipping and exchange.

What would be my options to get the same result? I have done some searching, but I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to picking the right equipment for this sort of thing. I could set it up myself, just need the right equipment.

Thanks in advance.

Just get the Dlink powerline adapter. Sends the network through your home power outlets.

Like this one?

Looking at the connection diagram, it looks like it would work.
Dumb question .... does the electrical wire transfer data as well as wireless?

Yup, that's the one. No, it doesn't transfer wireless, but the device you linked to is the non-wifi version, so you would plug a network cable from the Dlink into it.

I worded that wrong ... I meant "as efficiently as wireless"

Thanks for the advice ..... really appreciate it!!

LOL, ah, ok. That depends. Obviously wireless can go from great to no signal, and these will do the same. If you have good wiring in the house, and nothing causing weird interference (like a big electrical motor) they can work very well. But they can also not work. So I'd suggest buying it from somewhere with a good return policy and testing it out. You will probably find it works fine for you, or it doesn't.

Just ordered one from Best Buy. House is 9 years old so hopefully wiring is good. No out of the ordinary electrical motors around.

Thanks again!

The Dlink powerline adapter works perfectly. Easy set up and a solid connection. Thanks for the advice.
