sure but the problem of being at work is that at any given time your boss may come by or a meeting might come up and you have to unglue your eyes from your monitor. booking the day off removes those trivial annoyances

He's been worse this year than last. Personally I think he's been playing through injuries all season and I'm guessing if you asked Hartley that would be the case.
But it seems as if some people have erased last season from their minds. Russell made Wideman look like a competent defenseman last year. How good was he when Gio went down and everyone thought we had no chance at the playoffs? How good was he in the first round? How many of you have conveniently forgotten that? Seems like a lot of you have. Too many.
Russell isn't a top 4 d-man IMO. He's a perfect #5 who Hartley overuses because we didn't have a better option. That kind of depth defensemen will still be valued highly at the deadline and at UFA. If guys like Andrew MacDonald and Matt Carle get 5 million then Russell is comparable to guys like that. If guys like Roman Polak get you two 2nds then Russell is comparable to that.
He's still underrated by many here.

Man Lou sounds like that guy who sticks his fingers in his ears saying I can't hear you.
That was a cringe worthy segment to listen to.

I like Lou a lot. But he gets to know the guys personally and sometimes he gets so attached to a player he loses all objectivity.
There is no question that Russell is a soldier with a lot of heart. The dude will go through the wall for his team. He is also a decent enough depth defender and a great guy to have on the PK.
But I prefer a defender who gets the puck out of our zone over one who collapses the net. If my defender is going to collapse to the net I want the big mean variety that will clear the crease. And if I am paying more then 3 million for a D I want him to contribute at both ends of the ice.

That segment was a grade 12 couple fight.
Pat: "What do you think about people who say Russell is playing over his head."
Lou: "So I don't have ears then? So I hate everyone then? This conversation is over. I respect everyone, but I know more than you."

Kind of done with Steinberg. "How dare you be blindly passionate about one player without looking at everything including the Advanced stats!".
Also, that argument is daily here on CP. So here we all are in grade twelve.

That was probably one of the most embarrassing thing I've heard on 960 and there's been some pretty embarrassing stuff.
God our station sucks.
I did laugh when Loubardias said he knew what Pat was saying and that he didn't keep repeating it 19 times. Sorry Lou, rehashing an opinion over and over and over and over and over is Pats whole method.

Folks here are calmer and actually make a point rather than arguing over the right to make a point. I don't see too many people raising their voices here.
They literally said nothing in that segment.

Lou is blindly passionate about Russell. Key word is blindly. Personally I can drive north to hear blind homerisms. I don't need it on my radio.

If my job takes me to the field which it typically does I am not able to listen or watch. If the deadline was Tuesday-Thursday I would work but with it being a Monday I took it off.

Well that was awkward.
It wasn't aggressive enough where the two guys are beating each other up, which is now in the realm of highly entertaining, but it was aggressive enough where you thought somebody was going to up and leave or cry about it.

I am not a fan of Pt and his irritating voice but admit the guy is a hard worker. He was simply trying to bring up the fact that there is a large population who do not feel the same way about Russell that Loubo and the Flames do.
Personally I love the intangibles Russell brings and would welcome him back (in the summer) to a 3 year $3.5M deal. If he wants 5 years and $5.5M then he can get that elsewhere
