Silver Steps to Oilers from Ottawa for Future Stars

The Ottawa Senators have traded Jakob Silfverberg, Derek Stepan and 2.25 mil in exchange for Brad Richardson, Jake Debrusk and Jonathan Dahlen. I think this is a very fair trade, the Oilers are doing very well and Jakob and Derek will be nice additions. The Sens get two very good prospects and a solid 3rd line centre in return, as they seem to have a bright future ahead of them.

The Sens have been on the slide the last couple of weeks to where I figured we'd be, near the bottom, time to get younger and rebuild.

Silfverberg and Stepan are good players but at this point in their careers aren't likely to change much. DeBrusk looks very good and can hopefully can continue his upward trajectory, Dahlen looks like a very good prospect from a very deep 2016 draft. Richardson helps fill a roster spot for the rest of the year.
