Default Playoff Push - Strength of Schedule

Here is a comparison and some observations of Calgary's schedule along with those teams we are directly competing against for spots.
  • Calgary probably has the easiest remaining schedule, even if I decided not to mark the Grease as "freebies" for us.
  • Compared to everyone else, we play 3 games against the Wildcards and 6 against the Pacific Top 3 - we are most in control of our own destiny IMO (since we want that top 3 spot).
  • If it truly comes down to the final couple weeks, we have a bunch of games of Wild Cards vs Pacific Top 3 teams in that time. Good time for some OOT scoreboard help.
  • These next 10 games should help Calgary get their mojo rolling and get some important points before they hit the Californian gauntlet.

Green = Gimme
Blue = WC
Red = Top 3 Pacific

I protest. The Edmonton games should be listed as gimmies for us too. I don't care what happened recently. The Flames can and will demolish that team down the stretch this year. Too much is riding on it.

Flames just sent out "Playoff ticket offer" to season ticket holders.

Also:

NYR is already without Grabner and will probably be without Nash and maybe more. Should be a gimme at this point. No way a desperate Flames team should lose to a depleted visiting team with nothing to play for.

Also, last game against Vegas, Knights will have been home and cooled probably for a few games already. Will they have much to play for? Resting players? Same could be true for the Jets in game 81.

I think the Ducks have the easiest path followed by the Flames. I think the Kings and Avs are going to fall out for sure. Why no SJ??

Dallas has a tough schedule too. I am thinking the Flames get a wild card birth along with the Wild.

As expected. They always send it out at ahead of time.

To nitpick...not sure why STL is not listed as blue. They are certainly a WC team. And also not sure why NSH is blue under Anaheim as they are very unlikely to fall to the wild card spot.

You have a point with the Blues, although I'd like to see how they do this week before I consider them a WC contender.

Nashville marked as blue was a mistake, think I accidentally highlighted both cells instead of just Dallas.

Looks like how col plays out may have the biggest OOT impact on our chances.

I really hope our playoff hopes don’t come down to the last week of the season la,Ana,sj schedule not ending in 3 point games. That could be a real mess.

Depends. Pride sometimes drives teams like that to play really hard. Especially if they bring up some excited kids to fill the lines.

Dude. It's in their name! Whatever category you put the Blues under, that category is always blue!

I think the Blues should be listed here is one of the teams in the race...they are not far from being on the outside looking in and haven't played well lately

Yeah STL is definitely one of the 8 teams that are in the push. They are far from guaranteed getting the 3rd Central spot.

How is Buffalo a gimme? They have only won there once in 20 years.
