That's an impressive crowd considering the Trailblazers are playing next door at the same time. It's hard to believe that Portland wouldn't be a good NHL city.

Portland self destructing in the 2nd. 4 goals in the 2nd for Edmonton.

Edmonton Oil Kings are WHL champions for the 2nd time in 3 years

Crazy how Edmonton and Portland have faced each other 3 times in a row in the finals. Portland always dominates pretty much any team other than the Oil Kings

Kudos to the Oil Kings and a nice call on the series going 7 games (after seeing Portland dismantle Kelowna in 5 games, I didn't see that happening).

No one here gave them much chance but the series went pretty much as I expected, although I didn't expect the Cheaterhawks to get off to such a strong start - winning the first two games and then being up 2-0 in game 3 before the OKs took over.

The turning point was in game 3 when Bertilucci was taken down on a break-away (no penalty) then got up and scored anyway. From that point on they mostly shut down Portland's high-powered offence with their defence and depth. Reinhart and Jarry were stellar. I credit the Pelss factor. I think we would have won it last year also except Reinhart and Cheek missed the final due to injury. The factor that most people aren't mentioning is the OKs coaching, which is a huge strength. These kids are well prepared by Laxdall and Hamilton. Hamilton is the most likely to move on to bigger things as he's a rising star.

This was one of the very best series I've ever watched. I've been an OKs fan for a very long time and remember the old Oil Kings beating the Bobby Orr-led Oshawa Generals in 1966. I hope we can take the Mem Cup this year.

By the way, if anyone wants to check a year or two ago I said that Jarry (who was essentially an unknown) would turn out to be a much better prospect than Broissoit. I think Jarry will have an NHL career and could eventually be a starter.

not WHL related but Val D'or and Baie-Comeau played a crazy Game 7 tonight, catch the game/highlights if you can.

Edmonton drops their first game at the Memorial Cup. Not surprised, I felt coming into the tournament that they were long shots to win.

Honestly they've surprised me just getting there, I thought they were a good not great team from the start. Their offence looked like Lazar and Samuelsson and nobody else and I would have bet money Reinhart would have been in the show this year. Also didn't see Moroz tripling his goal output.

I'd say I think they're going to be brutal next year without Samuelsson, Reinhart, Moroz and Lazar but I have to credit them for how well they did this year, I won't write them off next year until I see it happen.

Too bad, I enjoy seeing Edmonton suck at pretty much anything.

I figured Edmonton would be good but not league champs. They are a very well coached team and for the most part, play an aggressive style. Easy to see why London didn't get very far in the OHL playoffs, they look completely lost through almost 2 games now.
