Default Final Cut Pro equivalent for PC?

I'm not sure if I'm going to jump over to MAC just yet, but I've really enjoyed using the program. I'm wondering if anything similar is available for the PC?

As far as I know they only run FCP on a MAC. We have 5 systems and they are all MACs.

I believe you can get scaled down versions of AVID that will run on Windows or Linux boxes. AVID is usually pretty pricey though..

I've used Adobe Premiere for years and it's fairly easy to use. Especially if you're at all familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite.

I've used CS3 on a daily basis for awhile now, but I've not used any other programs found in Creative Suite. I wonder if it'll be a big learning curve?

Ya, Adobe premier. But the industry has really shifted away from PC's...So the software isn't being made as aggressively anymore.

If you know the basics of video editing you shouldn't have a difficult time picking up Premiere. The look and feel of the program is similar to Photoshop with many of the video effects mimicking those of the Photoshop filters.

Are you in the industry, HotHotHeat?

Nope, more of a hobbyist when it comes to video editing. You disagree with my post?

Just wondering what sphere your expertise is in.

Premier is the closest you will get. But a friend tried Premier, and it was easy enough to pick up, but he found it clunky so he's been borrowing my Mac for FCP. Only problem is getting a 27GB project from my Mac back to his PC. That was fun.

We use Pinnacle Studio at work, and it's pretty decent. Easy enough to use and lots of nice transition effects. I think it's really geared towards a home user making a video for his buddies wedding though, if that makes sense. If memory serves, the sound editing component was pretty weak, although it has been at least a year since I used it.

Pinnacle is a devision of AVID now. They make decent programs.

FCP is a pretty damn good program. If you are serious about editing and want to do more of it it is worth the move to MAC.
