I don't use diesel but for the past month or so whenever I've actually noticed the price it has been around $1/L. I noticed this morning that it was $1.02 at the station I drove past.

So you obviously hate the environment.

It's all about differentials in a very interconnected market. Losing Houston completely disrupts the North American supply/demand orbits. Sure, Alberta's supply/demand orbit doesn't intersect with Houston's. But Alberta's supply/demand orbit overlaps at the edges with another region's orbit, which overlaps at the edges with another region's orbit, which overlaps at the edges with Houston's orbit.

Everything is connected.

Here's a thought experiment for you: Pretend every refinery in the Gulf and on the East Coast (you know, the ones that don't serve our direct import/export markets) were shut down forever. Do you really think the price of gasoline in Calgary would never go up?

Interesting to note the price of oil is down I assume because not as much is being used for refining.

Correct. And because we only export to the US (minor amounts elsewhere via Trans Mountain) there is no alternative to where we sell to and thus are forced to take the lower prices.

It was $0.98 in Nanton if anyone wants to make the trip.

Me, I think I'm just going to hijack a Mantei's truck and live the rest of my life off of my ill-gotten gains.

Gas prices up to $1.33 today if those are spring prices, I’d hate to see what happens over the summer

Was able to fill up at the Thorncliffe Superstore for only $1.229

Edmonton for sure sucks but i'm pretty sure they have lower gas prices than Calgary almost every day of the year. At least the 3-4 times a year i'm forced to head up there.

Costco at CrossIron was jam-packed at 6 today, everyone fueling up before Costco jumps overnight - they were at $119.9

Don't think Ive ever seen gas jacked up this high. I mean I am from Victoria so these are kind of normal July prices but out here? eesh. Whats causing this? the Trans mountain fiasco?

Last I checked a few days ago it was 145.9 in Victoria.

WCS is up about 30% over the last month so the input cost for Canadian refiners is way up over that period. I don't know if WCS and gas price track each other though
