So no hustle on forecheck, no hustle on backcheck... can't imagine Darryl would have pleasant things to say about a shift like that haha
Ironically, Darryl was Cassidy’s first pro head coach.

It would be hilarious if the Flames landed him just to see the saltiness from Oilers fans and the ‘you can see the moment when his heart breaks’ gifs for Louie DeBrusk.

I was wondering what name was going to be next on the list of “players we came oh so close to acquiring, but the price was too high to make sense, or he had a NTC, or visa issues, or he chose another market.”

If Edmonton is in on it. We usually end up getting it. Maybe that's the difference.

I mean, he's an upgrade on Pitlick but does acquiring a guy like DeBrusk at his price tag kill the Flames chances of getting someone better closer to the deadline? Someone who could play higher up the lineup?

Move wouldn't make a ton of sense to me.

Kevin Weekes @therealweekesy

For all those asking, my understanding is the flames are considering a package of Tkachuk + collection of past/future 1st rounders. I can’t help but think @nhlflames have the inside track on your boy @LouDebrusk #itsallhappeningallatonce #hottakes #weekesy

Bruins are short on players right now due to COVID protocol. I can't see a trade happening in the immediate term. No Providence players are available for call-up.

Okay that’s actually hilarious.

Edit: or I’m dense and heavy Jack made a good joke himself. Either way, love it.

Don’t hate the idea as a buy low candidate to help get some depth scoring. I wouldn’t want to give up too much though.

He definitely needs a change of scenery

^^ "buy low candidate" is a bit of a misnomer (I think. Textcritic?) given he makes roughly $3.5 million.

I think the same way but I'd like to see Flames add two forwards for the playoffs.

So it's really about cap room and what adding Debrusk now does for space later.

I would be happy.

Debrusk seems like a guy that does nothing when he isn't scoring and he hasn't been scoring.

Doesn't seem like a Sutter guy. Seems like media throwing Canadian teams in on the mix for clicks.

Yeah, personally, I'm not a fan of acquiring Debrusk. Don't think he moves the needle enough for this team and if the Flames do make a move, that's the kind of trade that would interest me more.

I don't see DeBrusk moving the needle much here. Some eery similarities to James Neal

Not really wanting the flames to spend assets on him either was merely stating it would be hilarious to see how Oil fans and Louis would react. But ty for taking my fun away!

Monahan for DeBrusk + pick --- I would be fine with that. Monahan is finished as a top 6 player imo.

Hopefully the Flames are interested because they know the Oilers are too, just to drive the price up.

I can see Edmonton going after him pretty hard. Actually might be a good fit there.
