Doubt the Habs are in a rush to sell players. What would the hurry be? Wait for the deadline unless it's an offer they just can't refuse
Monahan for Anderson ain't it.

Too much.
I don't see the Flames moving Valimaki. Both Sutter and Treliving seem to have a philosophy of being deep on D. If Zadorov walks after the year and they have traded Valimaki, that is just going to open up a hole they would have to plug. Personally, I don't see them moving Valimaki.
The way things are shaping up and if they continue to go well (i.e.: competing for first in the division) I think it is more likely that they move picks opposed to roster players.

Bergevin to Vancouver one wonders?
I wonder if the Canucks when they fire Benning, will say his replacement will be able to speak French?
Yes, Bergevin loses a couple more games last year or the Flames have Sutter a few weeks earlier last year and this firing happens 6 months ago.
He had a good run, that's the hardest market to play for given the francophone element that is so important. His Weber for Subban trade, as predicted, looks a lot better then most were saying at the time.

Glad he was canned. I lost every ounce of respect for him after the Mailloux pick.

Wasn't Bergevin linked to the Kings not long ago? Under the assumption he would be fired prior to the end of last season?

Don't see it.
I would think this is a window for Montreal to take a half step backwards and look to build around Suzuki, Romanov, among others. Can't see them having any interest in Monahan. With the draft in Mtl this offseason, I could see them wanting to make a splash and perhaps stockpile picks. If the Flames are at the top of the division, their 1st should be on the table if it improves them and gives them a player with term.
If the Flames were to pursue either Toffoli or Anderson, they likely have to move salary out but that might have to be through another trade. If they can find a way to have Ottawa take Monahan, even for pennies on the dollar, they should do it.

He barely gets in the lineup as it as right now and we still have Stone and Mackey. You are essentially giving up your 3LW + 6/7D for a 2RW. Both Dube and Valimaki could take a step, but it looks like they could both use a change of scenery. As for next year you can always sign a UFA, or give a chance to Mackey.

I never liked Bergevin's teams, nor did I like him. I always found them bland with weak depth up the middle. I think the Habs will forever be limiting themselves with their insistence of hiring French speaking coaches, and now with looking to hire a french speaking GM. I get it, but I think that instantly shrinks the pie chart for recruiting talent. Edit: Gorton is a good start in moving away from that philosophy, so good on them.

Messieurs et mesdames, meet the next GM of the Montreal Canadiens:
Unlike any GM before him, he can keep his mouth shut in both official languages.

Yeah, he can be kinda ruthless but there's players that like him still (of course on the other side there's ones that hate his guts too). Didn't Gaudreau and Monahan help Hartley out with some youth camps in the years since his firing?
I never minded Hartley's coaching as an outside viewer, but I don't think he has a long shelf life.

At his contract...they should be paying us a first to take Anderson...
Tofolli seems like a good fit if Sutter is in. He knows him well.

Why don’t they hire Youppe if speaking french is the most important qualification?? Above competence.
What an inept organization.
