I thought it was incredibly careless for the report to contain those identifying details. I certainly hope John Doe didn't feel pressured to identify himself based on that information being in there.

It doesn't matter if the report "already outed him". The courage it takes to publicly put a face to allegations like this is remarkable and laudable. And potentially a necessary step (unfortunately) in ensuring there is justice among those who participated.

I feel kinda bad that he has too. The type of abuse, it really breaks a person down and it takes incredible bravery to even admit it in session, privately, to a friend, or at all.
Now to come out publicly....incredible. With all the people who are in the same position, this will help others fight this battle hopefully a little better.
Also, every single person who knew about it and did nothing should be criminally charged, banned from the NHL & hockey in general, and generally considered an outcast from society.
Disgusting.

No but what I meant is I hope the identifying details being present in the report didn't pressure him to subsequently identify himself, if his initial desire was to remain anonymous.
I think it takes incredible courage on his part for him to step forward, and I hope it was completely his choice.

to be honest, it's easy to put together 2 and 2 just from the details in the report. No idea how they would put stuff in there that pretty much out him to everybody who sees this and decides to spend 30 seconds on HockeyDB ... I found that pretty careless.
good for him though, takes a lot of guts and he deserves all the support in the world.

I think he's going to have a ton of support. Even people here who have deduced who he probably he is aren't outing him, even hours before he's coming forward.

Seriously. That info should have and could have been redacted for public consumption.
Great on John Doe for stepping up and talking about the abuse. Hopefully he isn’t feeling pressured to give up his identity though.

I don’t doubt the victim saw the report before release and was OK with the descriptive details, perhaps because he was already planning to go public.
