You're probably correct. I just don't know a lot about the band. I only own one (Number of the Beast) album of theirs, and the only reason I bought it is because the cover appalled my mom.

Bruce Dickinson said he wouldn’t accept it anyway which makes me like him even more.

I would have denied a significant bias against women until educating myself. I just watched the movie Runaways so I searched the rock and roll database. The absence of the Runaways or Suzi Quattro is an embarrassment. Bon Jovi? seriously? I saw him on his first tour and he is the same pretty boy hack. Joan Jet is 10x the musical influence of a lot of hall of famers not to mention the other members of that groundbreaking group. With the push lately to recognize women, where they deserve the be recognized, this is pathetic.

I know, just seems that a lot of mediocre acts are in when some groundbreaking acts are not. Kind of like the hockey hall I guess in a way.

In the performer category:

Go-Go’s
Tina Turner
Carole King
Foo Fighters
Jay Z
Todd Rundgren

No Iron Maiden? Kraftwerk gets in as an ‘early influence’ nominee. Why not just put them in with the performers?

seems about right.

I still would put in
New York Dolls
Iron Maiden
Devo

I suppose Devo and NYD would be more under "early influence award" which I didn't know was a thing.

It feels like a participation award.

And I’m not sure what the point of the fan vote is. Don’t think I’ll bother with it ever again.

That Fela Kuti was passed over again while Foo Fighters got in first try should tell you everything you need to know about the RRHOF.

Nine Inch Nails was passed over for years. Then Trent Reznor gave the induction speech the Cure and miraculously the RRHOF inducted NIN the very next year.

Dave Grohl gave the induction speech for the Doobie Brothers this past year and miraculously the RRHOF inducted the Foo the very next year.

There is a very clear pattern with the RRHOF. Scratch our back and we'll scratch yours. They do not want anything to do with anyone who won't help their own bottom line.

They remind me of JD Power consumer awards or the Top 50 Employers in Canada type BS things. It is pay to play, no question about it.

Members of Iron Maiden have infamously derided the RRHOF in public. They're not in because they think it's all BS and neither want nor care to be in.

Tina Turner and the Go-Gos should have been in there years ago. The RRHOF sucks.

I think we can all agree the RRHOF sucks but from my point of view, Tina Tuner and the Go-Gos shouldn't qualify as they aren't rock & roll but obviously the RRHOF was diluted already years ago into a "you had a top record in the 60s-90s" participation award.

Tina Turner is pop/R&B and the Go-Go's are New-Wave Pop - and this is not because I dislike them. I've even played "Our Lips are Sealed" on stage for a cover band before.

I just feel like this award is pretty worthless with the only redeeming value in getting old performers and acts to sometimes get together to play again.

That's one of the problems I have with the RRHOF. You can't exclude bands just because they're pop or R&B or punk. And Rock n roll has a history of being "dangerous" and anti-establishment. The artists who get inducted are almost always safe, corporate choices. The RRHOF isn't for music lovers, it's for tourists who visit Cleveland...

This, right here, is what it's all about. Never forget that the RRHOF is a private enterprise that—ultimately—exists to make money for the owners. The inductees are chosen in part because they were great musicians, but only in part. Mostly they're picked because the owners make the safe, easy choices that they think are most likely to get press coverage and convince tourists to pay $28 to see.

I’ll give the RRHOF credit for putting together this performance…
