However, I wholeheartedly apologise for stating the wrong reason as to why you are being a dick when people just want to be excited about Kerins.
Why you are being a dick I just don’t know.

I wasn't being a dick, compadre. I was just suggesting that maybe it would be wise to not say we are drafting top six players in the 6th round, and maybe just wait to see what we have. That isn't dickish, it's just understanding the road these kids have to travel and hoping others will recognize it as well. The development curve between the OHL and the AHL is huge, let alone the jump to the NHL.

But literally we are drafting top 6 players in the 6th round.

It is kind of dickish for you to be throwing wet blankets all over others's excitement about prospects who look like they are doing well. flames_fan_down_under was maybe a little over the top, but it's not like he was pencilling the kid into the Flames lineup—he merely said it is awesome when top-six players are found in the sixth round. Which, it is.
The thing is, most of us do not need to be reminded about the very long odds of ANY drafted player even making it to the NHL. Don't confuse excitement for expectation.

Our two best players were drafted in the 4th and 6th round so when flamesfandownunder said "it's nice when late round picks turn into top 6 players" he wasn't wrong.

Kerins scored 30 goals in his draft year-a year when the Soo were 14th in the league in Goals Scored. 26 of those goals were scored 5 on 5. All while playing a standout, physical, 200-ft game. He's looking like a steal.

2G and 2A, 1st star in a 7-1 win. Up to 36 points in 22 games, hope he keeps it rolling.

Really wish he got a nod to the Canadian team but I understand it’s quite deep this year. Awesome to see the strides he’s taking!

Kerins is in a 4-way tie for 4th in OHL scoring with Luke Evangelista (NSH, 2020), Matvei Petrov (EDM, 2021), and Wyatt Johnston (DAL, 2021).

Remember when this team had almost no interesting prospects?
This is awesome. Flames are finding all kinds of interesting NHLers now. I think a stable scouting and GM regime helps with that.

I see a current 6th round pick absolutely tearing it up right now and this 6th rounder has traits that remind me of Mangiapane. Super excited for him!

People put way too much into where players were drafted in 2020, the 2020 draft was difficult and I would bet there will be more than a few surprises come out of the later rounds, as for Kerins most scouts had him pegged early 3rd round with the only negative on him is he had to put on weight.
Most local scouts went to watch Pytlik and O’Rourke but came away loving Kerins the most.
Edit, found a really good pre draft report here
