Take a look at what is going on with this team and tell me the Flames need to name a captain.

I have already penciled tonight in as a loss, and that is honestly okay. Vladar will lose a game at some point, right? It's the second of a back-to-back, and I am MUCH more invested in seeing the Flames win in VGK.

I dug into your enquiry and discovered it's in response to a song by 2013 Oscars host Seth Macfarlane about seeing boobs in movies. He said they hadn't seen Jennifer's and this was her response. The eye rolls etc in the back are hilarious, but more appalled at the song than JL. Makes sense...no one should ever be appalled by JL.

I have bad news for you: The original and correct expression is ‘nerve-racking’. It's meant to suggest the image of someone being tortured on the rack. ‘Nerve-wracking’ came along half a century later and is simply a homophone error, though a plausible one.

Even Sutter's own 2014 Kings had at least one point-producing defenseman on each pair, with the top pair having two:
Muzzin-Doughty top pair <-> Hanifin-Andersson I guess
Voynov-Mitchell second pair <-> Kylington-Tanev, I guess
Martinez-Greene third pair <-> x-Gudbranson
We're still a Martinez type short of that kind of blueline.
So I disagree that offense isn't one of the primary roles of defenseman. Not all defensemen - obviously guys like Mitchell, Tanev, Greene, and Gudbranson have roles where offense is secondary, but the other guys are all there primarily to generate offense (whether that's reflected in the point totals or not)

I'd argue that if you are including puck movement and transition, that's fine. But points production - nah. I think Sutter is perfectly happy if Hanifin and Andersson start plays out of the zone that result in offensive pressure, points or no. And to that end, Hanifin and Andersson are doing just fine (and surprising so are Gudbranson and Zadorov).
Your LA example shows where Sutter places his priorities.

There seems to be some debate on this point...possibly between the British and American usages or the archaic and the present. Interesting - wasn't aware of the brain-racking...or brain-wracking....over it.
Gotta love etymology!

Then again Shakespeare wrote about a guy on “the wrack” in Henry IV

Rasmus Andersson is +14 which is top 10 in the league and best among Flames defenders. But, yeah, he's fallen off a cliff and deserves to be benched in favor of Stone. Some of you need to grab some perspective
|
And people still wonder why CalgaryPuck has rapidly seen a decline in the active community/userbase. Toxic armchair GM's who clearly don't even watch the game commenting on players and their abilities, yet have no insightful arguments to add.
I personally only come here for 4-5 dedicated posters and sometimes there is thoughtful conversation. But the rest of it is "Player X is a garbage human, garbage hockey player, and deserves to be ejected into space".
Flames won last night in a nail-biter due to the score, outside of that the pace of play was dominant and there was only a few chances where the kings actually had a loose puck in front of Markstrom.
For those of you posters who contribute positively and engage in thoughtful conversations or memes, thank you!
