Well, Jusso, you’re not sitting anymore. So it’s not stupid now, right?

I'm sure he's happy he is playing. Also getting paid more.

No escrow on his salary in the minors.

Reliable partners for your youngest D is not a bad thing. Nor is making sure your team is competitive (at any level) so they are playing 'real' hockey and not trailing by 3 for half the game.

It’s a good thing that he’s away from the Flames and the COVID outbreak. This could be the best thing that could have happened for him

A bit of a blessing for sure that he's playing right now as he needs to play and there would be no chance of that happening with the Flames this week.

That's the best I've seen him skate in years.

Up here people would complain he didn’t “bury it”.

“He’s been thrown to the wolves with our group here, logging lots of minutes and he brings a ton of energy to our group both on and off the ice,” said Mitch Love, Stockton’s first-year head coach. “The biggest thing from Juuso is seeing him play his game. He plays an up-tempo style, he likes to make plays and be a part of the offence, and we want to embrace that.”
“I’ve seen a big improvement in just a couple of weeks in his stick work in defensive play,” he said. “Him using his brain and feet to close on people to kill plays defensively will be very key for him.”

With the news of Kylington's injury and MacKey being called up, what has happened to Valimaki?
At one point, he was one of the brightest upcoming defencemen we had, and I always thought he just needed a chance on the big club like Kylington.
Has anyone followed his AHL progress this year?

Currently, he has 2g 14a 16p in 29gp.
Not sure about his TOI or which pairing he's deployed on though. It would also be good to know if he's on any special teams, or what his role is on the Heat.

Derek Wills was saying he heard Valimaki is at best 3rd on the depth chart in Stockton and really made it sound like he has not been good down there from who he has talked to. Not surprised Mackey was called up

Missed critical development years and it's going to take time for him to get back on track, if he does.

At best 3rd? I can’t see Kinnvall or Welinski getting called up before him.

He was Stockton's 3rd best D, behind MacKey and DeSimone. That's why MacKey got the call ahead of him. As for what happened to him? The emergance of Kylington and Sutter happened to him. I think that Sutter trying to change the culture and instill that you need to play better before you get more ice time and not the other way around hurt his confidence quite a bit. That's nothing against Sutter, because any coach has players that perform better and worse under him.
As far as the promise Valimaki had, it was hampered quite a bit by his injuries, and his skating not being as good as pre-injury. He also looks like he lacks consistency, and confidence as a result. I think he still has all the tools to come around, just need him to jump through all of Sutter's hoops and perform.

I think Sutter dislikes him, and he knows it-and this is messing with his motivation. He was pretty much the best player in the Finnish league, he’s better than what he’s showing now, injures or not. I think he’s trade bait in the Summer.
