Alas, expectations have been set and I've likely got another 6 years of this, on top of the 8 or so years we've already endured.
If you've been doing it that long, I assume your older kid(s) no longer believe, so enlist them in doing it for the younger sibling(s).

Naw man...you just have to be creative.

Get some macabre gallows humour going.

"Dad...is that Elf being hanged?"

- Nooo...he's like Tom Cruise in mission impossible. Yes...they'll buy that.

I'd just put the thing on one shelf and leave it there. My daughter would understand when I told her the elf is old, like daddy. He's not going anywhere.

Ordering online from the US sucks. I ordered a couple things from Disney and since they closed all their stores I had to do it on their website. First Disney stuff is expensive, for the two items it was about $100 US. Then came shipping which was about $45 because there is no free shipping to Canada. Then I had to pay duty on it which was another $50. So after exchange and stuff these two items came to about $240. Never again. Those kids better love their gifts.

Have you read "a world in a grain"?

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...rld-in-a-grain

such a great book on the subject of concrete and other sand-related projects.

Also, we lost business travel with the Pandemic (hopefully it doesnt come back) and replaced it with a flood of Amazon Prime one day shipping accounts and cargo planes.

Thanks for the recommendation, as that looks really interesting!

Crap. We're looking at a used Golf wagon right now (2013) and now I'm wondering if it has the same issue. They definitely look like they're tucked in a bit.

Realizing my phone is a time trap/machine. Too much Pavlovs dog behavior. Ridiculous. It’s stealing my joy. Some recent messages on CP as well about nixing social media also got me thinking.
Of course then I come across a great article on happiness and thought it was something less fun but more practical worth sharing:

God I love my SportWagen. Ours is a 2017 (base model, 5-speed). It's a car perfected. We have "better" cars in the fleet, but my wife and I fight over that one because it's the most fun, best on gas, and super practical. I even put a ski pod on the top for mountain trips. Tinted all the windows and have new Blizzaks on it. It's a really good looking car on top of being awesome in every other way.

companies that do layoffs at christmas time.
(not me in this case, but a friend)

I know there is never a good time to lose one's job, but it seems especially worse during the christmas season.

doesn't help that he's around 60, and in a non professional field.
seems few places outside of some retail and fast food will hire an old person

Realistically it isn't, but it seems it is when you're job hunting.

Itís glitter season in my house now.

Why does every single piece of Christmas decoration we own have glitter?

I loathe the stuff.

Itíll take 9 months to finally get rid of it all after Christmas, then start the cycle again.

Ooo, you just reminded me, I need to send a glitter bomb to my friend as a house warming present. One he will never ever be able to forget.

Upside: you can go the rippers all you want without worrying bout tracking in the incriminating glittery evidence!!

Chocolate and Coffee flavoured Jelly Bellies can frig right off. They are the ultimate trap candy. Indistinguishable from one of the top tier flavours (Root Beer), they cause you to second guess every handful of beans. One of them can ruin the next 5 jelly beans as you try to get the taste out of your mouth. They don't even mesh with any other flavour so they are completely useless. So gross.
