Nothing laughable about it. Murray's had outstanding playoff stats the last two years. He has had better stats than star goalies that would be considered franchise players. And it's seriously also worth considering that about two thirds of the games in which Murray has accumulated those playoff stats have come against conference finalists or cup finalists, not first round fodder.
How highly would you value a young Lundqvist, Quick or Kipper?
Just looking at the evidence now, which is all we have, Murray's got more to show than pretty much anyone else under 25.

Only players I'm taking over Gaudreau are: McDavid, Matthews, Laine, Eichel and Barkov
Kucherov had an amazing year last season, but the previous two he was beneath Johnny. I see them as equivalents.
I also see Schiefele as an equivalent. Guy is playing with 4 arguable top line forwards and shot an outrageous 20% last season. Need to see him repeat it.
Don't understand how McKinnon can possibly be ranked ahead of Barkov, Pasternak, Monahan, etc?

Yeah that's not right. I like Mackinnon. But it's at the point now where he's living off his high draft position, rookie season, and the magical elixir of potential. How many more seasons is he allowed to get by on that? At some stage, points and results matter.
I think he should be on the top 25 list. At the very least much closer to Monahan, and most certainly not ahead of Barkov.
I know there are no flames left but it's August so let's keep this going.
7. Filip Forsberg
8. Mark Scheifele
Interesting to see Forsberg so high. He is a stud goal scorer but shouldn't be above Eichel. Can't believe Draisiatl is going to go above Eichel as well.

Interestingly The Hockey News new yearbook top 50 ranking only has 4 players under the age of 25 ranked higher than Johnny Gaudreau (McDavid, Matthews, Scheifele and Kucherov). Maybe they use different criteria (proven performance vs potential)?
