Agreed. Season prior when they lost to San Jose they were pretty good too.
It sucks when your team loses in the first round, but it is easy to lose sight of how tough the first round can be to get out of.
Makes me sad when I think what could have been, but I hate the revisionist history that those teams "sucked".

Injury call ups don't need to be that productive really, they need to hold the fort for a while.

Couple of injuries won't be nearly enough. We already have Stajan and Glass as veterans just waiting to play, and then a whole flock of youngsters. (Hamilton, Hathaway, Mangiapane, Hrivik, Foo, Poirier...)

Soooo... purely hypothetically... now that Oilers signed Cammalleri... in light of Burke's public message, if Iginla signs with Oilers too, would that automatically makes his jersey unretirable in Calgary?

No, because now I know The Flames didn't want him, and not necessarily the other way around.

If he deliberately chose Edmonton over Calgary... well that's a completely different conversation.

It won't ever take away what he did in Calgary. Iginla wants to play and I won't hold it against him if he signs for the Oil for a season.

Jagr was the right guy for this team. Glad that was the choice made.

I never want to see Iggy as an Oiler or a nuck, but that said I respect that he has to do what’s best for him.

That said, he claims he wants a cup, and those losers ain’t getting it done.

If he signs anywhere, I hope it is a contender. The Oilers are not that

I wonder if there is any bad blood between Iggy and Gio. When they almost fought last year it kind of came out of nowhere, and struck me as odd. Sometimes players might come together in a scrum, but for two players that otherwise get along to want to go after each other the way they did in that game was unusual.

Given burke's history of raising items to distract from other problems, I have to ask why he decided to bring this up now? This is a story that could have stayed buried and not stirred up what will be a pile of distraction.

Burke knows this. So the tinfoil hat part of me wonders if there is something else that he wants to divert media attention away from.

Maybe Smith's injury is worse than expected?

Probably because someone asked him

fair enough, but this isn't Burke's first rodeo. He has changed the media headline to that which he wanted it to be.
