Lazar is growing on me. Getting a Byron vibe. Remember how with Byron how frustrating it was watching him fail to convert on breakaways. After a while it was like what’s the point of a breakaway if you can never score. The guy turned into a helluva player who started to score a little more.
I actually saw a lot in Paul Byron and was insanely pissed when we gave him up for nothing. Definitely not surprised to see him score 20 goals. Not sure I see the same finishing ability in Lazar, but his hard work has created chances for others which has been nice to see.

I’m with you. Just trying to focus on the positive here. 😉

Big freakin’ win here. Give the home crowd an entertaining game, a win and a nice send off before going on the road. We gotta make up some ground here on the rest lf the West.
We are going to the game in Chicago Tuesday.
Geared up and expecting to have a great time and enjoy a Flames win.
I'm pumped.
I don't care what the usual suspects had to say in the game thread, or the post game thread.
Go Flames!

Big win! The whingers can keep complaining about Gulutzen, Brodie, and Monahan. I don't care, this is a playoff team and I see another win streak coming.

If the Flames get points at the same pace over the rest of the season that they have so far over the last 30 games, they'll finish with something like 94-95 points, which would be right on the bubble for the playoffs. 2 or 3 extra wins down the stretch should get them in comfortably.
A couple missed opportunities makes this 7 game set more challenging, but definitely doable. A final 3-1 record wins them the 8th segment. They also have 1 point banked, but best not to use that.
In the big picture it will be interesting to see how Colorado does sans Mackinnon as the spotlight is on them. The way I see it is the Flames have two potential roads into the playoffs. Battle the 3 Cali teams for the 2 PAC spots (so 4 teams battling for 2 spots) or the final WC a race between the one Cali team, Flames, Minny and Colorado.
Interestingly, from the teams we are racing we still have the following games left:
COL 3
SJ 2
LA 1
ANA 1
Now that St. Louis has fallen off a bit. They look like a catch-able team to both the Dallas Stars and the Minnesota Wild. All 3 of these teams have a really tough looking final schedule.
I believe the Blues play 3 more games and against the Sharks, the Stars surprisingly play the California teams more often than we do to end the season. Looks like the Wild will be playing very high quality teams to finish off their season. I'm starting to think our chances look pretty good in making the playoffs either as a Pacific place team or at the very least, a wild card team.
Yeah STL is very fortunate that Hutton has been able to take over while Allen tries to figure out how to be a goalie again. If Hutton hadn't picked up his game I think they are easily back near COL and MIN. Probably on the outside looking in having played more games.
After going down 2 games in the 8th segment the Flames came back to win it 4-3-0. Boston is the start of a new segment. Also I noticed I calculated one of the segments incorrectly and shorted the Flames a point in segment 5.
Bottom line sitting at 66 points, if they pick up 8 points in each of segments 9-11, they will be sitting at 90 points with 5 games remaining.

Funny - aside from the losing number 4 segment, the segment they get the most points in is the one with the least wins. While no one wants to play for a tie, it's probably a good thing the coaches are aware of the importance of an OTL.

Coaches definitely shohld. If a team didn’t win a single game in a season but lost every game in OT going 0-0-82. That’s still 82 points. The OT point is extremely valuable. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
Big picture. This Flames team is more complete than the 2014-15 team and has more compete than the 2016-17 team. I'm so excited to see this team starting to realize it's potential and take it far this year!
