OMG
That was a nailbiter, lots of great play both ways, Swift put more shots on net but I felt the play was pretty back and forth. Swift with better legs near the end of each OT. Monday is gonna be crazy!

Gawdin has a goal and an assist as the Broncos currently lead 2-0 in the 2nd period.

Great to see Gawdin delivering in a game 7.

5-0 with 16 minutes left.
I'd say that's a wrap barring an epic comeback.

Well I'm pumped.
Skinner with 3 straight shut outs in Moose Jaws barn.
Broncos win 6-0, so it's Broncos vs. Hurricanes in round 3!
I don't think we've got a chance personally, that's a deep team. Hopefully we put up a good fight though.

So this happened on January 8th:
I don't think anybody thought these two teams would meet in the 3rd round after this trade happened.
Got tickets for game 3 in Lethbridge. Gonna be exciting!

Stuart Skinner had a .962 SV% and three straight road shutouts during the Moose Jaw series.

Not to take anything away from Skinner, he is solid and made some great saves, but Swift kept the shots to the outside and pretty much nulified the best offense in the league.
That last game the Warriors were just done. Injured, frustrated, and out coached. What a sad way to end the best season we've ever had.

IMO I don't think Tim Hunter is a good fit for junior hockey. Scott King or Mark O'leary are both ready to take over a HC role.
Do you think Willms is back as one of your overagers, or
does Evanoff take over to gain more experience in what will be a *down year*?
My conference champions picks:
Swift Current in 5
Everett in 6

Everett over Tri-City in 7
Lethbridge over Swift Current in 7
EDIT:
I'm going to go out on a limb and pick Lethbridge, on paper they should get destroyed but I'm hoping they give Swift all they can handle.
They are hot right now, and although the competition was weaker than who they face in round 3, they destroyed that competition in short order. Also, since the trade deadline this team has been very solid minus one very weird 8 game losing streak at the end of the season, that came after clinching a playoff spot.
Total record since trade deadline including playoffs - 24-16-3 (157 GF / 149 GA / +8)
Minus the 8 game losing streak - 24-8-3 (145 GF / 110 GA / +35)
Really dominant aside from one weird stretch. If they can avoid falling into a funk like that they should provide a solid test for Swift Current. Or, I've just jinxed them and they will get swept lol.

King or O'Leary would be great, when Hunter was at Jr's our guys were looser and had more freedom to play their strengths, take a few chances and not just be tied to a system.
Wilms will probably be back, I can't see him having huge trade value. Evanoff isn't ready to be the starter. We have 10 19's, it will be interesting to see if we get anything for any of them. I can see Sheen being cut, Hunter doesn't use tough guys anyway, Howden is gone, Clague most likely will do anything he can to get out of here. Even then we still have surplus 20's. It could be a very down year.
I expect we keep Wilms, Susonov, and Langan.
Agree - Swift in 5, Everett 6

Dammit
Canes start the 3rd down 2-0, but dominate the 3rd and tie it half way through. Couple minutes later Hepponiemi gives the Broncos the lead back.
In the end it's a 3-2 Broncos win. Shots 44-30 for the Canes.
Gawdin with the primary assist on the game winner.

Feel like I'm talking to myslef in here now, but whatever.
Canes down 2-0, come back to take a 3-2 lead but with 9 minutes left Swift ties it.
Goes to OT and Estephan wins it for the Broncos......of course lol. He had a hattrick and 1st star.
Shots 39-33 for the Canes.
Two good efforts, but down 2-0 and heading home.
Pretty much cooked now, need to win 4 out of 5 from a 58 win team haha.
