to me if you come from calgary the time and effort and cost spent driving to great falls/kalispell are not worth the savings......obviously more attractive if you are in Lethbridge

For taking the gf to Vegas, where's the best place to stay on the strip? We both are newbs to sin city and are in our mid 20's.

I hear Aria is decently priced while still looking "nice", and that Venetian is great, but more expensive.

Belagio seems to be for older folk while Cosmo is for younger folk. However, both seem to be a bit pricey.

Where would you CP males take your females for a first trip to Vegas?

Paris. Reasonably priced, great hotel and unbeatable location.

Just like real Paris, fake Paris is full of smokers.

Heading down with the wife for reading break. We are going to be staying at the MGM (got a great deal on it) and hope to do a trip to the Grand Canyon (South Rim) in a day. I know it is a bit crazy to do it in a day, but I like driving and the wife will be taking a shift at the wheel. Thanks for all the advice in this thread!

Anyone ever stayed at the Monte Carlo?

We're looking at doing a group trip (two couples), friends want to stay at the Monte Carlo, I'd rather stay at the Aria based on the travel review sites.

You will be rushed if you don't stay at the canyon over-night.

I stayed there last year... while my trip was awesome, monte carlo was probably the worst part... but it wasnt that bad. We stayed at nyny this year and just enjoyed that hotel so much more than monte.... If youre going with another couple i wouldnt stay at monte carlo, unless youre trying to save money every way you can.

become an m life member, it's free and offers good perks... this year a cot was more expensive than our room at ny ny one night. at the end of the day, you'll be spending the most time in casinos you like while youre out discovering and it doesnt REALLY matter where you pass out for a few hours... I just found monte carlo had less appeal, was kinda dull and stunk like a cheap perfume. lol.

Thanks for the input, it's more of a difference of opinions on the trip. We're going for my birthday and I wanna go in style, part of that experience is a nice hotel. But others on the trip are more of the "save everywhere we can", so hence the two hotel choices.

Agreed, it is either this, or not go at all... Already paying for a hotel back in vegas. Planning on starting at 6:30am, be at the Canyon by 1pm, leave the Canyon by 6pm, be back in Vegas by midnight.

Five hours in the South Rim is more than the bus day-tours and the drive will give us some time to see the countryside. It is more of a tack on to our Vegas trip, than a destination we are looking at spending multiple days in.

I stayed at Monte Carlo on Thursday and Friday this past weekend and thought it was fine. Aria is nicer but it's also twice the price.

Monte Carlo is mediocre. I found Harrah's to be superior.

We stayed at Monte Carlo a couple years ago and while there's nothing wrong with it, there's nothing particularly good about it either. The casino is pretty meh, and the walk in from the strip through the casino gets annoying after a couple days.

What are you planning to do while you're there? Gambling, shopping, pool parties, clubbing? Also what time of year are you going? Have you been to Vegas before/if so where have you stayed?

Anyone stayed at Golden Gate? I like the casino, but not sure about the hotel.

Fantastic. One of the (imo) nicest and newest on the strip. It's kind of tucked away in the back of the property I found, so to get onto the strip going northbound you have to go through the attached mall which adds a bit of a jaunt. There may be an easier way though, that just seemed to be the way we always walked out.

Nice place with a nice modernness to it. It is modern in that has lots of stainless steel and sharp line. My parents hate it but I don't mind it.

Aria's pretty sweet. Just stayed there for 5 days. Great property and I'd stay there again.

Thoughts on the Flamingo??? Looks like the pool is a blast and the rooms are decent for the price!

Full of fake people with lots of money, but a nice resort overall.

I had a blast staying at the Flamingo, and I really appreciate that security didn't have me arrested when I trashed my hotel room, the hallway, and ran around the floor I was staying on in my underpants.
