Flames Calgary Flames at Ottawa Senators 5:30pm TV: SN, RDS - RADIO SN960

https://twitter.com/user/status/1624828162013302784

Another 20-goal season for Flames forward Tyler Toffoli — ‘and I’m definitely not planning on stopping’

Heading into Monday’s showdown with the Senators (5:30 p.m. MT, Sportsnet West/Sportsnet 960 The Fan), Toffoli is tops on the squad with 21 goals — he just nudged ahead of Nazem Kadri in that category — and second with 46 total scoresheet mentions. His centre, Elias Lindholm, leads the way with 48.

Toffoli has also been the most productive of Calgary’s power-play personnel, with 17 points in those special-teams scenarios.

“When Tyler is moving his feet, he is a real effective player,” said Flames coach Darryl Sutter earlier this season. “He has great hands and vision, and his compete to score is second to none.

Calgary Flames Rift And Trade Rumours Abound: What We Know

If you believe all the banter out there, the Calgary Flames trade deadline interests range from Jakob Chychrun and Luke Schenn to James van Riemsdyk and Nick Ritchie.

Oh, and Darryl Sutter is suddenly on the hot seat after winning the Jack Adams a year ago.

This is the time of year where fans need a filter to figure out what’s real sourced information, and what’s speculative dart throwing made through obvious connections — relationships, history, and family ties.

Will be out of town for next game, catch you on the weekend for the Ranjerks!

They kind of need to start beating teams beneath them in the standings but Ottawa has won 8 of the last 12 times these two teams have met so not a good matchup for the Flames at all.

As happy as I was for Markstrom to finish the last game strong, when points are this necessary to stay in the race I’m hoping to see Vladar between the pipes today. Otherwise, GO FLAMES, let’s put up another touchdown on the scoreboard!

Need to win, gave folks hope last game, so I don't have a good feeling about this.

although I don't completely disagree, I do believe you give Marky the start and hope to build off an overall positive performance...nothing better than having 2 capable and confident goalies going.

I didn't watch the last game and they won so I'll do my part and not watch tonight.

Senators have won 4 of their last five games. 2 against MTL, 1 each against Toronto and NYI. Their loss has come against the Oilers. They’re 5 games before that, they had only won 1 game. Streaky team for sure

Depending on what happens, Flames could find themselves in 8th, 9th or 10th in points percentage after this game tonight.

Definitely time to take care of business.

Sens are a quality offensive team that lacks on defense. Their goaltending and offense numbers look eerily similar to ours. The key to this is to out-defend them and take advantage when they give up scoring opportunities, which seems bound to happen.

Never an automatic with this team, so take the game seriously and come out strong.

Sogaard in net. I watched him a bunch in Junior with the Tigers. He's huge, 6'7". Plays a blocking style but lateral movement is decent. There should be some junky rebounds available for garbage goals, but he'll be saving all the perimeter fodder the Flames throw at him (as usual).

After the last two games, tonight will determine once and for all whether we are capable of winning 2+ rounds in the playoffs, or whether we should rebuild.

The fate of this year's team -- and perhaps the franchise as a whole -- likely rests on tonight's outcome.

Go Flames Go?

They always struggle against the Sens in Ottawa. Hopefully that changes today

A little dramatic no?

The Flames are in the thick of a dog fight fort a playoff spot, they've got 29 more games to prove their worth.

If they want to make the playoff we need to go on a streak here.

A big 8-5 win tonight would help.

Sorry, I thought the sarcasm was obvious.

My bet is that after 29 games we still won't know what this team is...

Sens with a rookie goalie. Worst possible thing that could happen tonight
