Yikes! The rope goes back behind his arm at the start. I know someone who lost a thumb in a similar situation, slacked rope wrapped around it and POP!. Never accelerate with slack in the rope.
^ I know someone with the exact same mechanism of injury, except he lost his left arm just above the elbow instead. He has a great sense of humor about it though. He tells little kids his arm fell off one day because he didn't eat his vegetables. Their reactions are priceless.
