After years away from Calgary I actually found the profanity a little jarring when I went back for a visit. It's just such a natural part of the Calgarian dialect - particularly the use of "f****ng" pretty much as a comma.
It's kind of an interesting contrast with another classically Calgarian trait: politely holding doors for people.

Have a friend who was an executive with one of largest companies in Canada, moved to Calgary from TO. We’re talking professional white collar industry. First story he told me was after he moved here was that he went to a meeting with the all the executives and one guy actually said in reference to negotiating that he “Jew’d him down” to their asking price. He was the only one at the table with his jaw on the floor. Everyone else didn’t even bat an eye. And based on some of the stories I’ve heard, that type of talk was commonplace out here. This was maybe 15 years ago.
Not exactly in line with profanity but I think Calgary has, for a long time, earned its reputation.

Do they define what words are considered profane? It's highly subjective and some words are worse than others.

Actually, CP is probably a large contributing factor - it attracts a significant percentage of the more mature fans, leaving the reddit group to be over-weighted by the young and/or unruly.

Some of those are pretty benign words (damn and hell?), and there are plenty of worse words not included. I am not sure how Reddit moderates things, so maybe other words get deleted or filtered.
Someone could probably change the words to different profane ones and come up with different results.
