Not really. They basically put the bare minimum in terms of Cjay branding they could get away with.

There's nothing wrong with the billboard at all IMO. A face would have been nice to include, but honestly, think about it. If it was your billboard, would you want Tkachuk's face all over it, acting as an obvious bulls eye for everyone in Edmonton to toss garbage at all day?

Between Cjay, the billboard company and the Flames, I'm sure there was a ton of hesitation to allow that to happen. At the end of the day it's still hilarious to think that all those sweat pant wearing, mullet-heads will be getting butt-hurt every time they drive by that for the next week.

Rogers is not likely to allow Bell, a major telecommunications rival, to use digital likenesses on their billboards without extracting license fees.

But yes, it sucks we can't have our cake and eat it too.

There's no way that Edmonton security would let that in. I tried to bring a Gio head in to game 5 in Vancouver back in 2015 and had it confiscated. Couldn't even get it back after the game.

I can see why maybe they wouldn’t want that in their home barn for playoffs, as optically it could really throw off the crowd optics and what they are trying to accomplish (much like the C of Red) but for a regular season game, I can’t see it being an issue. I think fans have every right to wear an opposing teams jersey or bring a sign representing the opposing team. You might get the gears from the fans but it should be your choice!

I'd say good luck. Considering the purpose of the head they would deem it disruptive.

Even signs are hard to actually use during the game.

Does that make Zack Kassian the "Fat Choy" in Kung Hei Fat Choy?

Yup. If you want to have a good sign, bring one in that says "McDavid marry me!", but put a sharpie in your sock. Write the real sign once you are in your seat. Hold it up for as long as you can before being tased and dragged into the dungeon for a beating from hired goons

Massive flags and cardboard heads are fine as long as they’re only used when there’s no actual gameplay going on.

Tho it’s Edmonton - who the hell knows what they’d do. They’re the clown show of the entire league.

Make a Kassian one. They’ll let that in. Then when inside peal his face off to reveal Tkachuk.

Theres so many directions a marketing department could have gone in even if they didn't have permission to put faces or likenesses on a billboard. Try to be cheeky or clever would have been the bare minimum. You can barely even read the friendship tour quip hidden in tiny letters.

What a terrible execution of an idea that required little to no effort.

Did this at least get any national media coverage or reaction from Kassian/Oilers? cause it's kinda pointless if it didn't.

someone anonymously donated 2.5k for this stupid billboard lol that is crazy.

I am not sure a $2.5k donation to the charity is crazy.

A giant, askew, mouthguard on the sign would have done the trick.

The 2.5k donation was probably Matthew himself

It's publicity, and it is working. I never heard of Jesse and JD before this. The charitable aspect is a nice bonus.

i think its hilarious. With McAvi and Raisaitl the Oilers can't sell out their shiny new barn and play to more then a few empty seats.

They need the Flames and Tkachuk to sell out their barn.

We have effectively made the Oilers our victims and slaves in so many levels.

The player level, the media level, the executive level, the fan level.
