Default Acer Timeline AS3810T anyone?

Looking at buying an ultraportable laptop (I want more ummph than a netbook) and came across this little bugger. Anyone have one? Impressions?

It seems to check off the right boxes for me but thought I'd check the masses for fun.

Link to specs. http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...nufacture=Acer

In the cheap/fast/durable triumvirate, where you can only pick two, Acer consistently chooses cheap and fast. Decent machines when they work, but in my experience they also fail more often than other brands.

Edit - that's not neccessarily a knock on Acer, just pointing out the priorities in their products. All products have tradeoffs...

I'm also thinking of getting a Timeline. I can't stand Compaq/HP their support sucks. I've seen too many problems with Toshiba's and Dell's. I've got nothing against Gateway, but Gateway desktop is still going strong after 5 years. From what I've seen people have had a lot of luck with Acer.

I like the idea of 8 hours usage time.

I don't really want to open that can of worms, let's just say I don't want a Mac.

Mrs. Furnace has an acer which has run fine for nearly two years now. My big desires are light, easy to travel, long battery, enough power to run photoshop, movies, and the odd less intensive game (my reactions have atrophied so FPSers are mostly out and things like SimCity and Sports games are in). I'd also like to potentially use it as at least a travel replacement for my work laptop which is an ancient Duhell that weights a tonne.
