Backlund is a huge piece of this team, he's by far our best all around forward
This team got itself into a playoff position without Backlund, and they can still make the playoffs without Giordano. This is probably the best "team" I've ever watched in any sport
Also interesting is that of the teams battling things out for the last playoff spots the Flames and Wild are the only teams with double digit positive goal differential and it's not even close.

This team just continues to do what they do, it's not even surprising anymore. What a great team effort! Every single guy on the team has bought in and leaves it all on the ice each and every night. We are spoiled as fans!

I just LOVE watching this team - they are such an inspiration! Never quit, no surrender. Just keep at it, digging away. They get better at it, sacrifice everything and seem so willing to cover up their own - and others' - mistakes. Brilliant coaching! And a team that is totally willing to be a team - not a collection of individuals.
I get such a kick out of seeing Gelly on the bench - I don't know how much he has to do with their success, but something tells me The Eliminator is the Flames "x factor".
(Wish I were in YYC to get to a few games, but I won't be there until right before the end of the season.)

Stajan's goal was the momentum shifter for the Flames as the Wings were all over the Flames for the majority of the game before that happened. After that rocket, the Flames pretty much took over the rest of the game, showing a killer instinct and kept their foot on the Wings' throat till the end.
