To the best of my knowledge he has an NHL contract, was sent down to junior, was with the Spitfires when the AHL roster deadline passed…But is playing for Coachella in the playoffs.

Does him most recently playing in the OHL have him playing under a different set of rules regarding roster eligibility? Most junior players who join the AHL team are on ATOs and don’t hold a NHL contract.

CHL players are eligible to join their affiliated AHL clubs after the end of their junior seasons. Same way Parker Bell has been playing for the Wranglers.

Ah okay, I forgot he didn’t reach 11 games.

If he played an 11th game would have he been under the “NHLer” rule to play in the AHL instead of Junior?

Errrr not sure about this one. Guenther went from Arizona to WHL Seattle after playing 33 NHL games this year, and Wright is younger. But I'm pretty sure Guenther would be eligible to join the Roadrunners if the Thunderbirds were eliminated tomorrow.

I know the 11th game burns a year off your ELC, so I would assume that would classify them as an “NHLer” at that point.

I’d be surprised to see if Guenther is eligible if the Roadrunners season is extended.

But like I don't think it really matters. He's exempt from waivers. If Seattle's season were to end tomorrow, his junior year would be done and he wouldn't have an NHL club to report to, with the Yotes missing the playoffs.

I am pretty darn sure he'd be eligible. But I don't know for absolute certain.

It’s definitely an odd scenario. I’d be curious to see how that shakes out. I hope the Roadrunners can take game 3 against Coachella.

I can’t find anything on Google that would say one way or another.

Even though the flames missed the playoffs, Duehr and Pelletier wouldn’t be eligible to play for the Wranglers without that paper transaction “send down”

I believe the issue is that a team can't send a player from the NHL to the AHL after the trade deadline unless he was in the AHL at the deadline. That's why Pelletier and Duehr were "papered" down to the Wranglers at the deadline and instantly recalled.

On the other hand, players can go from junior or college (or even Europe, as we saw with Stromgren) directly to the AHL after the deadline without a problem.

In Coronato's case, he went straight from college to the NHL, so he couldn't be sent down. In Wright's case, if he had gone from Windsor to Seattle, he wouldn't have been eligible to go to the AHL after, but because he went straight there, he was okay.

The thing I'm not sure about is if CV gets bounced before Seattle, can Wright go be a Black Ace in Seattle?

Coachella vs Tucson is the only tied Pacific Division series after tonight. Colorado and Abbotsford swept theirs.

If Tucson beats Coachella on Sunday, they will play the Wranglers. If Coachella wins, the Canucks play Calgary.

I read somewhere that Stromgren has a clause whereby he can be loaned to an European team next season. The ATO with the Wranglers was just a chance to see how the organization runs things.

Not really, a lot of European players sign contracts in the off-season and don't immediately come to North America. In fact, off the top of my head, I can't think of another Euro player who did come over right after signing.

Also, he signed on March 29, so he was with the Wranglers for 3 weeks, so it wasn't a quick turn-around. He was in Calgary longer than Coronato was.

Default Wranglers 2022-23 Season

I think there’s been a few European CHLers who’ve made the jump directly, but uncommon for SEL, Liiga, KHL types

Dmitry Zavgorodniy was loaned to the KHL for a few games but still
Played the majority of his first pro season with Stockton.

It’s looking like it will be the Canucks. Coachella up 4-0 after 8 minutes into the 1st period.

A 37-year-old, former 2004 Flames ninth rounder Adam Cracknell is playing for the Roadrunners.

Coachella defeats Tucson to win their series. They will next play Colorado in a Best-Of-Five, while Calgary will face Abbotsford.

I’m not going to lie, I’m a little concerned about this upcoming series against the Canucks. I’ve never liked the bye.

Abbotsford has given the Wranglers some trouble this year, and they are coming off of a quick 2 game series with the Condors.

I’m a little worried about the Wranglers needing to shake off the rust and choosing to forfeit their home ice advantage this round.

I texted Sportsnet960 with a snide comment about their content in the evenings, and they responded saying that they WILL be covering the wrangler games on the radio during the playoffs.

Wolf has already managed to make me feel safe in a way that I haven't felt since Kipper. It's easy to see that he is ready. If he doesn't get a spot on the Flames, it's only because of stupid seniority and Sutter. I believe Wolf will become one of the best. He just doesn't quit.
