Stolarz 3.33 GAA will surely go up in Edm. Higher than Talbots 3.36.

Didn't Boston traded for Jones from LA then flip him to SJ? Or my mind is playing tricks on me?

It’d be a real shame if he got hurt for a few games as the Oilers try and ride him solely for the fact of his retaining his RFA status.
And then make him come back early from same injury, when Lowe would come down from Katz’ office and tell him to rub dirt on it like he did Smid and Souray.

So basically, no matter how bad he plays - they have to play him and keep playing him or risk losing him.
This could be good.

i think that HFOiler thought they could get a 2nd round pick for Talbott still...
Burke basically said he was "untradeable"- in the bad sense of the word...
don't ever change Oiler fans...

Interesting.
Can Stolarz play just bad enough to get pulled regularly and get to UFA, yet good enough that another team would offer him a contract?
Or will him playing so poorly to try to not be played 10 games be exactly what the OBC wants? Hiding the tanking inside doing what’s needed to keep Stolarz an RFA.

Also Hoffman sent out west to San Jose and then back to the Senator's Atlantic Division Rival Florida a couple hours later.
Then a couple months later Ottawa trades Karlsson to San Jose anyways.

Yup.
I’ll try and find the story from way way back when, but one of the years that Comrie was on the Oilers, and I think this was when he was on the second contract (that Lowe tried to argue should be less then his ELC), but the team was out of the playoffs, and Comrie went on a steak of collecting garbage points, which, with a few games to go, triggered a decent bonus, which made Lowe even more irate with Comrie.
Lowe won’t want to get burned or egg on his face (he’s selective with it, at least) so yes, this lad is playing 10 games no matter what...keep him away from the walking germ McDavid, who’s sue to get his semi monthly case of typhoid any day now.

Or they could just sign him to a Koskinen contract right now.
I mean if they were confident in Koskinen with ~30 games of NHL experience, how can they not be confident in Stolarz's 19 NHL games?

They'll probably extend Stolarz for 3 years at $3M AAV now.

Can he just refuse to play, and become a UFA? I'm guessing there has to be something written in the contact preventing that.

Live look at a desperate Mr. Stolarz, trying to figure his way out of this in less than 2 months:

You mean some kind of No Edmonton Clause? An NEC? It probably exists.

At least with the Karlsson trade, Dorion figured out to put a clause in the deal that they get an additional first round pick from the Sharks if Karlsson is on an Eastern Conference team's roster this season.

I was never really sold on Talbot and didn't want him.

Stolarz refusing to play to become a UFA almost certainly means he never plays an NHL game again.
